Ladies:Post op Heavy Duty Periods?
I too had a period about two weeks early, it actually kicked in the evening I left the hospital. My dr told me that some women do infact have that reaction to the anesthesia. I am approaching another cycle as I will be 4 weeks post-op on friday.. so next week should be my golden time! The period I had was not particularly bad/heavy, but it was not scheduled.. so hopefully I will go back to my usual cycle. If I should happen to have a bad one, I will let you know.. take care.

It does seem like I read it somewhere that this could be a side effect for some woman. I am one week post op and no signs of it yet. Last year I had a procedure called an abaltion( i am not sure of the spelling) however what they do is go in and carterize your uterus which is suppose to cut down on the heavy bleeding. My periods before this procedure where horrible I was having to go to the bathroom every couple of hours to change and sometimes that wasnt soon enough. After this surgery my period now last about 1 day and it is so light that I dont even have to wear any protection or a very small pad. Maybe this is an option you can look at. My friend told me about it and it was the best procedure I have ever done. I went in on a friday and was back to work on Monday. It is a procedure that you do as an outpatient. I mean I am 42 and I went to the doctor and said enough is enough this monthly thing needs to go and this was the procedure the doctor suggested. Since I wasnt really having any problems with my female organs they didnt want to do anything drastic. Good luck
Hi,
I talked to my Dr. about this issue prior to surgery & was told that your cycle most likely will be abnormal for a few months. This is with any type of major surgery. I had the pre-menstrual stuff for a week & then my actual period came the week after which was not normal for me. We'll see what next month brings.
Good Luck
Tammy
