Had my surgery on Tues. Aug. 30th and I am still in the hospital. I was suppose to go home last night but I had a bout with vomiting and this gas pain is terrible. I am only able to get in about 2 oz. of fluid an hour. How am I suppose to get in my 75 gms. of protein everyday and my 60 oz. of water? I sure hope things get a lot better. I'm already having some doubts. Julie M

Hang in there! Things will get better. I have heard so many stories of folks who were in Murphy's pocket when it came to things that could go wrong actually going wrong, but the complications did subside, and they are very happy that they had the surgery. I had a bout with gas pain. It was a drag, but I adopted the attitude of ditching my pride and when I needed to cut loose, I did so. Sometimes, well...perhaps I shouldn't have...but oh well. The fluid thing was a concern for me as was the protein. I found that I can get all of my protein in with about 3 protein shakes per day. Heck, actually the protien I have been using comes from Sam's Club and its called "Whey Protein". Each scoop contains 22 grams of protein and when mixed with 8 oz of skim milk, makes a 30 gram protein shake. Three of those a day (which is only 24 oz. of fluid, and will count towards part of your daily water intake) gives a body the healthy dose of 90 grams of protein. I like to get the mixture super cold before I drink it and/or mix that thing with some ice in the blender and make it taste like a real shake. Take care and keep up the faith. Sincerely, Thom

Hi Julie, I am 11 days post-op and believe me it gets better. I also didn't think I could get all that portein in but it gets easier each day.
