Hi Angela,
I think once you start your protein drinks, you'll feel alot better. I've been doing pretty good in the morning except I'm pretty thirsty when I first wake up. I have been drinking a protein drink first thing in the morning. I drink Extreme Smoothies by VHT...they are wonderful, no after taste at all & have 35 grams of protein in 11 oz's. I ordered them off line & then I also found them at GNC... I love the praline, chocolate & cappuccino...they're all yummy. Good luck.

Perhaps grits are too much for early in the am? I don't know. I would try carnation instant breakfast, or just some water or crystal light. I keep a small bottle of water beside my bed and when my alarm goes off, I drink, the whole time I am getting ready from 6-7 am, by then, I am ready to have my carnation instant breakfast. I am 3 weeks post op and am still on liquids. Maybe go back to that in the am and avoid foods which may fill your pouch or be harder to digest so early in the AM.
Hi, I'm four weeks post op and I'm always nauseated first thing in the morning too, until I get something in my stomach, usually I go for juice or a sugarfree popsicle, then I feel ok. I just assumed it was because I had gone so long through the night without anything in my belly, cause through the day eating 6 small meals it seems like you're putting something in your belly all day long.
