My wife is not holding anything down and she will not call the doctor.. she is being very stuborn and thinks shes ok.. I am concerned now, in having the surgery and wondering if I am going to end up like her. I cant handle throwing up all the time and when she does I get sick to my stomach.. Should I be conerned or is everyone different????

Hi David, You wife should call the doctor immediately! If she isn't keeping anything including water down, she is getting severly dehydrated... the opening or exit at the bottom of her pouch could be closing in size, which could be why she can't keep anything down.... PLEASE have her get in touch with her doctor or a nurse... this could be VERY dangerous... If she is not having trouble keep water or fluids down, she should still call the doctor... She should be able to keep food down... I had my surgery about 3 weeks ago, and I haven't had any trouble keeping food down... Don't let this discourage you... this doesn't happen to everyone... You have to make this decision for yourself... You have to decide if your life is worth this sacrafice... for me it was... I will keep you and your wife in my prayers... Please get her to atleast call the doctor... All the best, Bridget

Hi, I completely agree.....call your doctor IMMEDIATELY. This is NOT normal and your wife could become very ill. Please call the doctor FOR her if she is so stubborn. There is no way to predict how you will be after surgery. If this is something you want, go for it. Best Wishes, Becca

David, Please call the doctor immediately. I had my surgery in June, and I'm here because my sister had hers two weeks ago. When I was 3 weeks into my surgery I began vomiting. It turned out, as commented above, that I had a stricture (closure of the opening at the bottom of my pouch). It has been simple to correct. I've had 2 dilations done by endoscopy with one more in a couple weeks. Vomiting is a sign of trouble, and it is not normal to vomit with this surgery. You call the doctor for her if she's too stubborn. Good luck, Debra 239/196/125
