:-S How much can you eat now?
I am 10 days post op, I am wondering how much ya'll can get down now? I found out my doctor's appt on friday that I can have Wendy's chili!!! MMMMMM!!!!!! I could only eat about 1/3 of it on Friday. Today is Sunday, I had my high protein hot chocolate for breakfast and then had the chili for lunch and ate about 1/2 of it (a small), is this normal? Last night for dinner I only ate about 3 tablespoons of my chicken and refried beans. Can anyone shead some light on this subject??

I'm not sure what "normal" is. Some days I don't get hungry at all, but today, it seems like I can't get full.....and I don't want to get in the habit of snacking.
I had nonfat cottage cheese, four ounces with two tsps of sugar free preserves for breakfast. I've since also had a cheese stick and a can of V-8. I've already gotten in 1/2 of my water for the day as well, and was still wanting something, so had two tablespoons of hummus. I've also already taken a four mile walk today......
I am 13 days post OP and my DR has ordered nothing but clear liquids for the first 14 days. Tomorrow, I begin 4 oz servings of Carnation Instant Breakfast (SF of course).
I would think that since most surgeries call for reducing your stomach to a 2 oz pouch, 2 oz of anything solid, no matter how well chewed would be safe.
For me, my biggest worry about beginning soft foods (Baby food and stuff in the blender) is that I might over eat and stretch my Stoma from the gravity of too much food pressing on an exit the size of a pencil in width.
Perhaps someone on the main board, with more months of experience could help?
Good Luck and congrats on the surgery.
Hi,
I think everyone is different on how much you can eat. I am 2 weeks post op & have been eating mooshy food for about a week now. I eat 2 medicine cups at each meal which equates to 2 oz. Sometimes, I can't get it all in. I stop drinking 30 minutes before meals & don't drink for at least an hour after meals. I sometimes have to remind myself to eat because I'm just not hungry. Funny that I'm saying that. Hehehehehe. I think as long as you are trying to get it your 3 meals & you're getting your liquids in, you're doing great. If you seem to not be able to do that, you should talk to your Dr., there may be something going on. My sister is 8 weeks post-op & I've learned alot from watching her ahead of me. At 3 weeks out, she developed a stricture & contacted her Dr. right away. Make sure you contact them if you feel something is going on. It's not serious unless you let it get to the point where you can't keep anything down. I think you're doing great though, as long as you feel full & you're not vomitting, don't pu**** Stop when you're full.
Good Luck
Tammy
