Intro
Hello! I have been commenting and thought I should introduce myself.
I had my surgery (Lap. RNY) on August 15th, at Womack Army Hospital, Fort Bragg. I returned home on August 17th and overall, have been doing well.
I walk everyday and 12 days later, can walk a mile or so. I think that has helped with my healing and any gas issues I had as well.
I am on clear liquids until the 29th, then start CIB and V8. I have been out to eat three times with family and just sipped while they ate and it really doesn't bother me. I am already starting to recognize the difference between eating for hunger and my old habits of eating just to enjoy.
Anyway-not to ramble, but here I am, if anyone has any questions.
Hi Luthien..I had surgery the same day!!I too am walking a mile a day( I was doing 4 before surgery) but havent been released to walk that much yet she told me to go slow on that ,lol...I am soo glad I didnt have to stay on the liguid i was on it 2 weeks before my surgery too..she had me slowly add to get up to full liguids again then 2 days ago released me to go to soft and?or purred she said that was so my pouch would get used to heavier weight but if I chewed well and slowly (took small bites of course) I didnt have to puree..so I havent and every thing has gone just fine..I hear ya on it not bothering me to watch my family eat they didnt have the weight problem I did soo... Hi,
I had my lap rny also on 8/15 at University Hospital in Syracuse. I was released on the morning of 8/17 & also have been doing great. Didn't have alot of gas pain, more site pain on the left & top of my stomach. I am on pureed food right now and haven't had any issues so far with what I've tried. Which is sf pudding, cottage cheese, natural peanut butter, pureed chicken salad, flaked fish, applesauce, watermelon & peaches. I am drinking the extreme smoothies by VHT which have 35 grams of protein in an 11 oz can. (taste wonderful) and have been working up to my 80 grams of protein that my nutritionist wants me to have. I think I've lost like 14 lbs but not exactly sure. I bought a new scale post op, but not sure if it's on with my doc's scale. I will see on Wednesday when I go for my 2 week check up.
Thats great that you've had good luck with going out to eat. Yesterday, I brought my daughter to Wendy's & I ordered a baked potato & mooshed it up. Had about 6 little bites & was full. It was great. Seeing others eat hasn't really bothered me much shich I'm so thankful for. It is great to eat for nourishment rather than every other reason I ate before.
Keep up the good work.
Tammy
