NEED IDEAS OF FOOD TO PUREE!!!!
I AM LOOKING FOR ANY IDEAS OF GOOD TASTING RECIPE IDEAS FOR THIS PUREED STAGE THAT I AM IN RIGHT NOW. I HAVE ONE WEEK LEFT ON IT AND I AM RUNNING OUT OF THINGS TO TRY AND DO. TO BE HONEST THEY ARE ALL STARTING TO TASTE THE SAME. I CANNOT HAVE ANY RED MEAT AND OF COURSE THE SUGAR CONTENT HAS TO BE MINIMAL THE HIGHER THE PROTEIN THE BETTER ANY IDEAS YOU HAVE WOULD BE GREAT.
8 DAYS POST OP -13LBS YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kate. I know exactly what you mean. Try this website www.bariatricbytes.com It is a site by Dame Tooter on the main message board, she is awesome. Maybe you can find a few things there you haven't tried yet. Hope this helps, Jennifer
Maybe some white chili?
Take a large container of chicken broth, add two cans northern white beans, shredded cooked chicken, a can of chopped green chilis, cumin, red pepper and chili powder to taste.
Simmer about 30 minutes, run it through the blender. The family will even like this one (unpureed of course )
Turkey Cheeseburger
-use lean ground turkey and your choice of cheese skim mozzerella is good about 23g of protein in the turkey alone! And low in fat compared to hamburger.
Tuna Melt
-puree tuna with chedder cheese. you might have to add a couple of drops of water to soften it up more in the blender
during the pureed stage I am hardly getting any fat in my diet (good fat that is) so I use regular cheese instead of fat free cheese. I can't stand the flavor of the fat free stuff any way I just add 1/2 of a serving which isnt' bad.
Chicken salad
puree chicken with low fat or fat free mayo and a dash of mustard
Chicken,tomato,avocado
puree grilled chicken breast and add a teeny bit of fresh avocado and tomato for flavor and a dash of taco seasoning. Its looks nasty after it's purreed but it's pretty good.
I have one more week of pureed foods. After three weeks, I know what you mean! I just went to grocery store and bought baby food. I thought it would be too gross, but it really isn't too bad if you add some salt and it is a heck of lot easier!! I got beef, chicken, ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas and corn. I've been eating baby food fruits all along - pears, peaches and applesauce. Good luck!
