Hi, Erin - sounds familiar! I walk to help the gas - it seems to help. I had 2 walks yesterday to the end of the block & back when it was almost unbearable & hard to breathe. By the time I got back it was much better. I found that if I take too much liquid at one time - more than about a 1/4 teaspoonful, i get the pain in my chest. My husband (15 mos. out) said that it was from taking too much liquid at a time. I accidentally gulped a swallow yesterday & thought I was having a heart attack it hurt so much. I won't make that mistake again. Hope things go better for us. I get the J-P drain out Monday and can progress to full liquids. Can't wait! Chicken broth is getting boring! But my blood sugars have been normal!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay! Happy weekend!

I also had terrible gas and could not relieve it. Gas X did not work for me, but the baby drops for gas actually helped release some. Also, try smaller and slower sips. Good luck

Definately Walking! I walk everyday and 2 weeks post op, am just over a mile a day. I also walked in the hospital. I did have a bit of discomfort if I drank too much Crystal Light too quickly, those first few days, but now I have no troubles. A friend who is 2 yrs post op said she was sensitive to both extreme hot and cold foods for awhile.

Hi Erin, I'm 3 weeks out of RNY Lap, The Gas is much less now but was horribly painfull at first, walk as much as you can, and just let it out. I still feel an uncomfortable feeling when I eat cold things, It's like my stomach is cramping up. Room temperature or warm liquids are not as uncomfortable. I find I must sip very slowly and constanly to get my liquids in.
