Well I had my surgery (lap RNY) on the 23rd. The let me come home today. Everything went great. I hated the drain coming out that nearly knocked the wind out of me. And my morphine made me SOOO itchy. But that didn't stop me from pushing my button LOL. Most of my nurses were wonderful. I did have one that must have gradutated from Satan's School of Nursing However I didn't let her darken my mood. I'm having trouble quenching my thirst. I want nothing more than to turn up a gallon of water and drink the entire thing. I am hoping tomorrow will be better. I will start my very planned out day. I have something to eat or drink or swallow every hour or half hour. Watching my husband and daughter eat real food has not been pleasant either. But I keep reminding myself about the pay off. If anyone has tips on quenching thirst please let me know If my smilies didn't work please forgive me this is my very first post. Crissy

I've had trouble with sciatica (sp?) for quite a while now which is one of the reasons I decided to have the surgery. I did have a bit of trouble with my back hurting lastnight but I just took my pain medicine and slept peacefully until the morning. The muscles in my back are sore but I make my husband rub them when he gets home. Poor hubby he is probably writing all of this stuff down so I can return the favor after he has his surgery LOL. Hi - I had my surgery Monday. I am very thirsty too. I just kept sipping in the hospital. Now that I am home, I have been sipping constantly, and the thirst is much better. Today I saw lots of yummy stuff on the tv, and even thought at first that I was hungry. But, it must have been head hunger, because when I thought "do you really want to eat that?" the thought of putting it in my stomach wasn't enticing at all!! In fact, I was so bored I cooked dinner for my family & wasn't even tempted. I just sat and drank my chicken broth and sf jello and drank my water. Hope today is better. Welcome to the losing side! Welcome Home! I had surgery on August 15th. I am not sure what type of diet your DR has you on, but mine is strictly clear liquids for 2 weeks. I could drink water all day, and Crystal light, but my mouth still got pasty. My husband pointed out tha****er alone will Not keep me hydrated as people think, but that you have to replace electrolytes by drinking the broth. Once I started drinking that more often, I have been fine. It's all about that sodium. Congrats on your surgery!
