Well it was a breeze, so I thought. I am not getting enough fluids, I know. I may get 16-32ozs in. Then Im doing the protein. All of this in between sleeping and walking. Now Im doing a little better with the water and the vitamins, calcium, iron,B1, and biotin- for hair loss. I wanted to get the hairloss thing started early in the game. I was already losing hair before this surgery. Thats been going on for about 6 mos. I drank Isopure strawberry shake with 50g of protein last night. I thought I was going to D I E! I have never felt so bad. I felt so bad that I had to tell my children to check on me through the night, I was horrified. Ive lost 10 lbs so far. Im thankful, but I guess I expected more. My staples were removed and now Im healing from not the surgical wound but the wound from the staples. Evidently the staples were pulling, I think it was infected but I wasnt given any anti-biotics. Luckily I havent had a temp. I NEED TO KNOW IF SOMEONE CAN TELL ME OF ANOTHER PROTEIN DRINK THAT IS HIGH IN PROTEIN OTHER THAN UNJURY? I want to swim, I want to join an aerobics class and IM SCARED I know there has to be someone out there that can tell me what else is in store. Ive taken some classes online. Simply because I dont want to have to deal with anyone when Im feeling in a yucky mood

Hello! Have you tried Carnation Instant Breakfast? They have strawberry, choc and vanilla. I get that and some dry non fat milk in the box, mix 2 packets (CIB) and about 4 tablespoons of the dry milk and a whole 12 oz or more glass of (I drink 1% milk) or skim and that is about 25-30 grams of protein. I usually do 2 of those a day and then with eating what we do, I get the required in, but just here lately that is. It was hard for me to even drink plain water... I hear you on trying to get all this in AND walk AND sleep. It's crazy, but they have told me the first few days home (maybe a week or 2) you may not be able to get them in. Its all trial and error. wish you much luck... -courtney

I hate the shakes too. I have been drinking the slim fast low carb, it has 20 grams of protein. I heard the Unjury is nasty, but I heard you could mix it with other things. The slim fast is nromally good, but I just can't tolerate it anymore, the last two times I got sick! I heard GNC has somekind of protein supplement that is like a jello-shot that taste like benydryll but does the trick with just a little bit, has anyone heard of that?

The Adkins Carb Solutions (it has to be the solutions) are pretty good. I especially like the vanilla caramel. It doesn't have a lot of sugar like a lot of the protein drinks so doesn't cause dumping and always sat really well for me. Good luck!

I was given a sample in the hospital. It is called Nectar and it is a fuzzy naval flavor and it was AWESOME the website is www.si03.com. They are more like fruit drinks then heavy shakes. I ordered mine today. EAS isn't so bad, but I can't do those forever. I would tell you to stay away from the peach and lemonand tea if you order from si03 they have caffeine. 18663337403

Hi Antoinette - I feel sea-sick too, and I HATE those protein "shakes". Just a sip turns my stomach! So I am eating just as much protein as I can - but you know how that is... two bites, and if I take one more it all backs up into my throat.. then - OOh, don't you know? Maybe someone will tell us of some other way to supplement protein besides those awful shakes. I have been staying home alone for three weeks now, pretty much. someone at the support group called it the "Hibernation Period". Sounds like a good description to me. They say it is common. I don't want to talk to people about how I feel, 'cause I don't LOOK all that different yet - but my nausea is right at the front of my mind too much of the time. Mary in Sacramento

Hi Antoinette! My name is Lynn and I had my surgery on 8-16-05. Congrats on your 10 pound weight loss so far! I know this is hard, scary, and so darn confusing, but remember, you are not the alone. Believe me, I have never been so confused in my life! I know how hard it is to get your fluids in too! Before my surgery I could barely get in enough fluids in a day and now that I have to sip them it is even harder! But it is vital that we try our best. Now the protein, you said had 50g of protein, is that for one serving? I was told that your bodies can only absorb 30g at one time and the rest is just wasted away. I would cut that serving in half next time. How many grams of protein are you supposed to drink in one day? The minimum should be 50-80g a day. I know it seems hard to get that amount, but I know I can see a differnce if I only drink say 30g campared to 60g! I feel so much better. If you dn't care for the taste of your protein drink, try adding in some sugar free pudding powder, it helps to cover up the chalky after taste. I use Pure Whey Stack chocolate and banana scream. They taste really good! I drink 3 of them a day. You can order those from www.vitalady.com (it is a website for WLS patients). I think the pure whey stack is the best brand. You can also order samples at $1.99 ea to try before you buy the tubs. Also, I didn't see any B-12 vites? Are you taking any? You should either be taking sublinguals or the injections. When has your doctor cleared you to exercise besides walking? If he has already cleared you, I would try joining Curves for women. It is really fun and for women only. I hope this helps. I know it is confusing, but I'm here for ya and if you want to email me, you can at [email protected] Another great place to get to know some really great people and get all your questions answered is to join a group at Yahoo called Gastric bypass info central. I have learned so much there. Talk to you soon! -Lynn Lap RNY 8-16-05 297/280/150

Hi, I absolutely love the Extreme Smoothies by VHT. I've had the chocolate, praline & cappuccino. They are made with milk not soy so there's no yucky after taste. I ordered them from vitacost.com and then found them at GNC. Each 11 oz can has 35 grams of protein. Good luck Tammy
