IS it too early to plateau?

Hi Everyone! I had my surgery a little over two weeks ago... I lost 13 pounds my first week, and have lost only about 4 pounds since then... I don't know what is going on... Can anyone help? I have been eating my protein first, trying not to drink with my meals (Although I think my pouch is a little bigger than 2-3oz, I can get in about 4 oz of liquid when I feel full... solid food, usually about a 1/3 of a chicken breast does it for me... ) with soup though, I can usually eat a good amount, about 3/4 of a bowl or about a cup and a half... not sure if that is the liquid solid food... Let me know... Bridget

I'm not sure Bridget. I am 1 day away from my 3 week anniversary and have been at the same weight since last Friday! I've even contemplated going to buy a new battery for my scale just to make sure its functioning properly! LOL. The stalled weightloss has me very depressed. I dont think I'm eating enough. I do get in my protein and my water, but only usually take in about 250 cals a day. Not because I'm not that hungry but because I think I'm scared to eat (that I won't lose). All of this is just causing me to feel blah. I do exercise just about every morning, usually walking with some running 1.8 miles on the treadmill. I called my doctor today and he cleared me for step aerobics so I"m going to try that to see if it helps. Good luck!

I tell you, I'm upset about this too. I had my surgery on 8/2/05 and have only lost about 19lbs. I look on here and I see people just 2 weeks post-op who have lost 20 to 25 lbs or even more! It's very depressing. I'm doing like they have said and I'm walking, not everyday, but I'm excersing and getting my protein. Don't get me wrong, I love that I've lost the 19lbs but I just hear everyone else losing so much more and at such a faster rate. What can we do? Leigh

Hey there Everyone! Well my plateau is OVER... I was at about the same weight for almost 5 days... it was driving me crazy! But I checked my weight today and I was down almost 5 more pounds... a 21 pounds total loss in less than 3 weeks... Plus today my monthly visit from Aunt Flow came (I hate her! lol) So... I can only hope that when she leaves again, I will drop more weight... lets keep our fingers crossed! (o: I think the plateau is just over our bodies shock about losing weight so quickly... You just have to tell you body that it is going to have to suck it up and deal with it... This is for its own good! lol! All the best! Bridget 280/259/140 lap RNY 8/8/05

I think it is too early for us to plateau, I think, lol. I have been at the same weight for the past 6 days as well and I am just over 2 weeks out. I keep telling myself that my body is just adjusting to this major change and once it gets it, I will continue losing. So just keep a positvie outlook and our bodies will eventually get the picture. -Lynn LAp RNY 8-16-05 297/280/150
