I'm not sure if you are having the LapBand or the RNY but I had the band and my doctor said stairs wouldn't be a problem. My house has three floors so I was worried, but by the next day I was able to go up and down no problem. I did however sleep in the guest room for two or so nights just becasue there isn't a bathroom on the same floor with my bedroom and I didn't want to have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and not be ready for the stairs. Check with your doctors, but don't worry, it should be on the discharge papers from the hospital and the nurse will go over all that stuff with you before they let you leave the hospital.

Hi there, I had the LAP RNY and was told I could do the stairs but must take one step at a time and put both feet on step before moving to the next one. I had no problem with stairs Joyce
