My LapBand was on the 9th and two weeks out I'm now on "the mushies". But I can relate to your desire to be on real food. I found the SF pudding and Jello to be really helpful. Also, I got Cambell's 98% fat free cream of broccoli soup, cream of mushroom soup, broccoli and cheese soup, and cream of spinach soup. I just pureed out the lumps and it worked wonders for my mental outlook. It was still just a liquid but it FELT like I was eating real food. But make sure your doctor's post op food plan allows for this... mine did, but I had a LapBand not RNY so chceck it out with your doctor before making the switch... and remember... this is SOOOOO temporary. You'll be on solids before you know it. You can make it. -Elizabeth 242/229/165

Hi, Amy! I'm 14 days post Lap RNY.... and eating soft proteins now 'til 6 weeks out...other than soups (which I home make them and feed to my 1 y.o., but drink broth from them myself... chicken, veggies, even fish ).... what I also like is to mix cottage cheese --I-2 tbsp with half teaspoon of sugar free strawberry preserve, and it's yammy... Another thing..I eat a bit of chicken or turkey breast... 1 or 2 slices.... and the trick is to chew it really fine... so what I do is not only I bite of smaller pieces, but I also chew with my front teeth-- more or less like a rabbit...... it gives you almost blender consistency... and kids and hubby laugh watching me do that..)... it also gives you better control over swallowing(or rather not swallowing before it's chewed enough)...I do the same with small pieces of cheese...I don't buy cubes...I bought a chunk, and cut out small "logs" every time)...it's more economical, and I like good cheese... .. am I making much sense?...I don't know... but anyway... try things one at a time... and don't forget your protein supplements and water.... the best of luck to you...Rita
