Hi All. I was told that I could only hold 1/4 cup or 2 ounces. I eat mostly soups and pureed foods and I measure about 2 ounces and after I can drink another ounce or so. I make sure and stop as I am unable to really tell what is full or not. It takes about 10 minutes and I feel full. I am also able to eat a slice of cheese. I can eat quite a few things. (SOLID) I am also able to guzzle liquids. I'm still learning to sip. Any comment? Iris D

Um.... I have been bad! My surgery was the day before yours! lol I'm supposed to just be on mashed potatoes but... my sheet from the hospital says that I can eat applesauce and pureed foods so.... I've been doing whatever. I started to eat cheese because I felt like jello and broth would make me malnourished. Iris D

Iris, you have had lap band surgery, which requires more discipline than rny, because you don't have the malabsorption working for you and your stomach was not cut. It is very possible to eat around the lap band. I also understand that with both surgeries, you don't always feel full when it's time to stop eating - you just have to measure your food and stop when you've had the allotted amount. Also, you should not be drinking 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after you eat. I encourage you to consult your dietician/nutritionist's eating plan and stick to it so you don't sabotage your surgery! (((((((hugs)))))))

Thank You, mam! I really was trying to make the mental switch before surgery and now I realize that it's a Mental thing. So, pray for me that I make the transitions quickly and smoothly. Iris D

Hi Iris: I had my lap band on 8/17/05. It is nice to hear someone else is going through what I am. I am sick of the protien shakes and want something more. I had two popsicles and a chocolate pudding today in a matter of minutes. It is very hard to eat slow. It feels almost impossible at times. I am psychologically hungry for sure! Good luck.
