water going down too easy??
Hey everyone,
I had my surgery on August 16 and came home on August 17, and so far, so good. One thing is bothering me a little. I'm trying to get my fluid in and have been drinking dilluted apple juice and water, and both go down easy. I'm not chugging the fluid, but I am able to drink mouthfulls, and don't need baby sips. I guess the surgery is working because I'm not really hungry (I just think I am). Also, no nausea, just bloating. Any thoughts on this?
Hey Melissa,
Glad things are going well so far.
I too, was bloated when I came home. A few days after I got home I took some Gas X (my surgeon said it was ok). I think most of the bloating is from the surgery and goes away. If you feel uncomfortable like I did then I would suggest you call your Doctor and see if you can take something, it may be gas.
Hope this helps.
Take care
Joyce
Hi Melissa,
I find that I can drink mouthfuls of liquids as well... I talked to the Nurse in my doctors office about that and she said its that the exit from the pouch is open nicely, so fluids tend to drain out quicker. but anythink thicker than clear liquids tends to stay longer in the new pouch than the clear liquids. I have heard of people havind obstructions with their exit tube as I like to call it, and had to have it expanded....
Hope this helps you!
Bridget
Hi Melissa, I'm lurking tonight, thought I would jump over to the August board.
I had surgery on July 13th and I still can drink mouthfuls of liquids at a time, but if I drink them too fast (one right after another) then I feel it.
Consider it a blessing because it makes getting down your fluids that much easier.
