Hi all I am 2 1/2 weeks out and I am down 25 lbs. I feel very good like I havent even had surgery. I can get all things down. I am still waiting for the pressure to get in my chest because I have eaten to much but I always stop when I question my self if I am too full. I am wondering if all of you who have had the surgery are getting in everything you are suppose to be getting in. Like water, protien food. I am only getting in about 300 to 400 calories a day 40 grams of protien 55 oz water all my vitamins and my 3 calcium chews does this sound typicall Thanks in advence Julie

Julie I to had my surgery on the 1st. I am having problems with my blood pressure getting to low. and feeling tired, last two days headaches. I am getting in all my water or most of it which is suppose to be at least 64 oz. But not sure about protein. I am going by my doctors orders as what to eat. I am not eating more then a 1/4 of a cup each meal which is 3 times a day. I had lost 25 pounds at 10 days but have not weighed again since. I plan on waiting until my 6 week check up. I think some get to obsessed with the scale and when they don't lose get upset when in reality they are most likely loosing inches. So glad to here you are doing so good. keep up the good work. Hugs! Hi Julie, First of all... congrats on your surgery. My surgery was 8/8/05. So far I been working up to 64 oz of fluid. I found it easier to get in my fluid and protein at the same time by drinking the protein shakes. Since I am on a soft food diet, its been pretty easy getting in my protein. I puree salmon, chicken, and tuna. I love cottage cheese... so that helped alot. My first week post op I lost 18 lbs. I'm not sure how often I will weigh myself yet. Anyway... if you are on the soft food phase... it will become easier to get in your protein now. Take Care.... JH

Hi my surgery was a day after yours. I too feel "normal" almost like I haven't had a major surgery. I just make it to 64oz of water a day. I just started exercise -30 minutes of walking every other day. I get in between 60-70grams of protein a day I drink 6 small meals a day. I am on full liquids only until this Tuesday. Then I can switch to pureed I usually have 3 protein drinks a day made with 1/2cup of skim milk for my snacks I have sugar free popsicles or fudgesicles and some kind of high protein pureed soup. I average about 650-800 calories a day. For now I take 2 adult chewable vitamins a day. I am down about 19lbs since surgery. good job with your loss

8/1/05 here, yes I do weigh regularly, and I'm down 23 lbs. I am in a stall right now. I don't get in all my protein daily but I'm trying. I do get in all my water now. I also get in very little calories since I'm only eating 1 1/2 oz per meal three times a day. But I'm following dr's orders.

Hi Julie, I had my surgery the same day as you. I am down 20 pounds. I'm kind of holding there, but I think I'm a bit constipated I also feel as though I have not had surgery, it is amazing. I am on full fluids until monday then pureed foods for a week, then soft foods for a week then the real thing(also the day my vacation starts LOL) I just wish I could gulp the water LOL The protien I am getting is mostly in the shakes. I am having pudding, and soups as well(both with milk) Things are going good Take care Joyce

Hi all I am so glad to hear that everyone is doing o.k. I am waiting too on going to pureed, I too would love to gulp water. I sometimes do and I forget that we are not suppose too. I havent had that hurt feeling from doing it. But I usually just sip sip sip, and I started chicken too and it is going down sooo good, I eat boiled chicken in water I think it is more moist than baking. Keep up the good work people. Love Julie

I had surgery on 8/1/05 and am doing well! I am down 18 pounds as of today. I am still having pureed foods and will continue that phase for the next two weeks. I am tolerating all foods well - peanut butter and ice cream gave me some trouble even though they were low fat / no sugar choices. I did eat lunch too fast today and my pouch explained to me that eating fast is just simply no an option - slow down and chew, chew, chew. Otherwise, life is great. I am getting in all of my water, milk and vitamins. I am so blessed to have been given this opportunity and I am committed to success!
