I went for my meeting with the surgeon today and I guess they have an opening on August 30th. Apparently everyone wanted September so it was filled quickly but this date wasn't taken. I didn't think this would be happening this fast. I am really worried that my insurance won't approve me in time...or at all. My BMI is just over 40 and I know that they look fo any reason to deny you. Does anyone out there have BCBS of NC. I hope to join you all on the adventure to the other side!

Wow! I'm suprised they gave you a date w/o insurance auth. I hope it goes smoothly. Do you have any co-morbilities? (hypertension, diabetes, etc.) That helps. Some insurances I know require a 6-month doctor prescribed diet. Hopefully you've already done this or your insurance doesn't require it. I would bet your doctor's office is familiar with the structure of your insurance company though. Dawn

I guess my doctor's office waits until you have completed all of your pre-op appt's before they will submit your file to the insurance company... so now I wait. It's hard though because the date is so close I am excited but I can't be completely excited because I am not approved... Just another rollercoaster in life I guess... I just wish I knew~!

I got my date before my insurance approved me too. My surgeon said he likes to have the dates to give the insurance company to expedite the response time. My insurance co. is tough too, but someone was on my side because I was approved in 12 days. It does look like your window is being cut a bit close, but if all of your ducks are in a row and there are no loose ends, BCBS will have to make up something to turn you down. Some people get approved in a week, so it's not unheard of. Best of luck to you. You're in my thoughts Michelle
