Anyone feel okay to go to work yet?
I'm two weeks post op and short of my bad Friday, I probably could have gone back last week. I start back Thursday and I'll be fine. What I find is that I'm ready for a nap around noonish, but I'm not exhausted, just using the excuse to take the nap and not feel guilty. I know a fellow teacher came back after 2 weeks and the RN in charge of our program said she went back to 12 hour shifts at 2 weeks. Basically I've been told I'll sleep really, really well that first week back or so. What job do you do? That seems to be the deciding factor quite often.

Hi Jackie, I had my surgery on August 5th, I had the lap band done. I go for my first follow up appointment tomorrow on August 16th. Personally I don't feel up to going back to work. I have a hard time bending down due to pain in my left side. I am a pediatric nurse in a clinic and I am on my feet almost all day. I find I need frequent rest periods throughout the day I know wouldn't be possible if I went back yet. Dr. Chua's PA told me you usually go back in 1 month, so that is what I am planning. I suggest if you have the time, take it!! Best of luck on your surgery, may God watch over you. Meg M, Milwaukee
I was feeling pretty good and returned to work the Monday after my surgery (just a week out--as planned! ). Thank god, so far so good and no complications at all. By now, almost all pain is gone (except for one of the incisions that was bothering and hurting a bit yesterday). I just feel I'm not losing as fast as I would want (only 22 lbs so far). I've read about people that have lost way more than that in the first two weeks...
In any event, I'm grateful and thank god everyday for the opportunity to change my life for the better once and for all.
Best of luck to you.
God Bless!

I had lap RNY on August 1. I took 3 weeks of medical leave, so I go back to work on Monday. I work in an office environment. What I have been able to do over the last 2 1/2 weeks is to get this eating thing figured out - you will have to figure it out - and rest and let my body heal. In 19 years, I have never taken any medical leave and could count on one hand the number of sick days I've taken. This is a major operation that changes the way you will live the rest of your life - give yourself time to recover physically and mentally.
