freaking out
Hi Sue,
Remember... every doctor has their own pre-op/post-op procedures, even if you're having the exact surgery. If you follow the messages on the board you'll see everything from masochistic (I think ) doctors ordering 2 weeks of a liquid diet to what yours and my doctor ordered, just the day before with the super laxative that afternoon. Just follow your doctor's orders. If you trust him to do the surgery, trust his instructions. He knows what works for him. Don't stop eating before you have to, all you're doing is reducing your energy reserves and more than likely you'll be on liquids for at least one week post-op. Why give up food before you have to?

Hi! No need to freak out, each doc is different on what they require you do. Just worry about doing what YOUR doc wants you to do. All I had to do was eat 'light' the day before surgery (I drank lots of water, had some fresh fruit, and a small salad and a small bit of spaghetti for supper the night before). No bowel prep, just no food or water after midnight. I came through just fine. Your doc is doing what he/she knows is best for you!
Hi Sue!
Relax! Like everyone said, every doctor is different with what his pre-op instructions are. My doctor had me on clear fluids the day before surgery and a bowel cleansing kit. (#1 fleet) My surgery was on 8-8-05, so I am 7 days today post-op and am feeling pretty good. I will feel better when I can fit in to some of the clothes that I want to fit in to
Good Luck!

im no expert, but she may have had to be on the diet longer due to her liver being inlarged, they have trouble doing the sergery if it is, so that may be why, also my doc only requires the day before liquid diet too, and the bowel prep at 5 pm and 8 pm, so they are all different. YOUR GOOD DONT WORRY
