Hi All- I only started this journey in July as far as paperwork is concerned and I am rather stunned at how quickly it has all worked out- The big hold up was supposed to be the sleep study and lo and behold when I called to get an appt. they had a cancellation for that night and I did it-What a pain that was!!! So it is very good to read all the posts that are about either getting the operation very soon or having just had it- I am most concerned about getting enough water and protein- Has anyone else tried that stuff Procept that advertises on this site- 25 gms of digestible protein in a 3 oz liguid package? Sounds almost too good to be true but if it was true great for the first couple weeks when eating is still not allowed. Wish me luck and I'd love to correspond with any and all lap gastrics in August.
Happy To Be A.

Hi Sara- Good luck on your journey!!! That's great news. I went and looked at that Procept stuff. I have never heard of it or the company that makes it. I have access to a lot of nutrional supplements because of what I do for a living and I have never come across that company or product. I plan to use 2 products. One is made by "Novartis Nutrition" and is called Nutra Recipes. It was given to me by my GI program for use after the surgery. 1 shake has 26 grams of Protein and 200 calories. The vanilla tastes (to me) like yellow cake mix when you lick the bowl! The other product is called "ProSource - No carb" It is made by National Nutrition Inc. In one ounce it has 15 grams of protein, no sugar, no fat, and only 60 calories. It can be mixed into other foods and liquids as it has no taste and is neutral. Hope you do well. Keep in touch!! Thanks Lynne for your suggestions- I will see if I can find them- I ordered the (4) version sample pack of the Profect (www.protica.com) just to see what it is like and because if it is halfway palatable I can just throw a couple of these in a bag and know I have covered my day's protein requirement. I'll let you know how it tastes- I don't know how to check it they are on the up and up vis a vis their product claims but for now I am going to just trust it. I can't believe this all might happen in less than two weeks...... Good luck to you and I'll keep you posted. Sara

Great news on your surgery date. I got some liquid protien from the clinic I went to, it is citrus and it is horrible. They say to mix it with jello............YUCK. Now when I was there they gave me a sample of a berry one in berry jello and it was quite nice. But of course like department stores at sales they were all out. Sorry haven't tried the one you spoke of. Take care Joyce
