in the hospital
If you have someone that can, I'd have someone stay too. My husband stayed with me, and it helped SO much! He helped me move when I was uncomfortable, changed TV channels if I asked, he even hit the nurse button if I wanted something he couldn't do. Most of all, he was someone there to talk to when I wanted to talk, and that I trusted.
I had my surgery a week ago tomorrow. If there is anyway someone can stay with you I think it is a good idea. My mom stayed with me and she is a nurse. She says it is always good for a patient to have someone there for them, just for the extras the nurses cannot always get to right away. Good luck to you tomorrow!

Hi Amy,
All I wanted to do was sleep the day of surgery so I wouldn't have known if someone was there or not. The nurses were great helping me get out of bed for my walks so that wasn't an issue and since I was woken up at 1, 2,3,&4 am for various reasons I would have felt really bad for someone there trying to sleep. What you need to do is find out how busy the floor is and then make your decision. The surgery floor was less than 50% full and the bariatric patients had their own nurses so we had great care!

Hi Amy!
I would have someone stay with you. My husband is staying with me, but Im sure I will be ready to KICK HIM OUT soon after...
A friend, or relative would work, too. Personally I want my mommy when I am hurt ( I know big 28 yr old baby) but oh well.
My surgery is the same day as yours...I am soooo excited I could just bust!
Good luck
