Hi all, I'm finally going to the losing side on Monday but I'm so afraid I may not be able to handle the pain when I awake from surgery. I'm praying and believing God that I have very little pain and that I can bare it. Help me feel better Please! My girlfriend had her's done LAP and said she had no pain except for the gas in her shoulder so I'm praying that is all I have also. Any adivice will be appreciated. Terri B

Terri Don't be scared about pain...you will be asked so many times if you're in pain that you'll be sick of it before you leave the hospital. Just be honest with the doctors and nurses. If you hurt, ask for pain medicine and they'll be sure you get it. Hang in there! Karen

Hey there Karen, Congrats on surgery for monday. As for the pain, I am the biggest baby, I have no pain tolerance. I had my lap last monday, I have to admit I had pain that day, but the morphine helps immensley. I too had the pain in the shoulder cause they fill you up with air while they do the surgery, this pain lasts a few days but is nothing really. And yes, they ask you constantly what pain level you are. I had a morphine thing that I could control myself............If you don't have that just keep asking for pain meds and don't wait til the pain is really bad before doing something about it. Take care all will go well Joyce:hugs: RNY-LAP Aug 1/05 356/342

Thanks Joyce you just don't know how much that made me feel soooo much better. I'm not so much a baby but between 3 c-sections and one hysterectomy. I'm a little leary of going under the knife and waking up to pain. Your words of encouragement were so greatly appreciated.

Hey Karen, Glad to know I have a fellow sister taking the jump over to the losing side on the same day as I. Please keep in touch with me and let me know how well you are doing. This also goes for anyone else who is sharing this date or has recently had LAP done in the month of August. Let's all stay in touch and encourage each other down this road of success.

I am freakin' too! I am scheduled the sameday, but in Minnesota. I had a d&c via lap about 5 yrs ago. The pain in the shoulder is due to the gas used to inflate your abdomen (spell?), I guess that is the path it takes to escape. *giggles* I hope all goes well for you! Kim K
