Frustration
Hi all,
Today's my day. I should have been almost done and in recovery by now.
However, there was some sort of scheduling f-up. Yesterday morning when I did my pre-op blood work and nurse meeting, all was fine. I was scheduled for first case today and was told to be at the hospital at 06:00. I had already begun my "Day before prep". At noon I started the "soda" for cleanout and I was already on clear liquids. At 15:00 (3:00 PM) We got a call from the hospital. My start time was moved back to 16:00 (04:00 PM)!
They said if the later time was a problem, they could reschedule for another day. ANOTHER DAY!!! I've set up for the off work time, we have coverage for the kids set, my wife is off work AND THEY WANT TO RESCHEDULE FOR ANOTHER DAY ON ALMOST ZERO NOTICE!!! NO WAY!!!!
Well, here it is, 09:30 and I wait. What the heck, I don't have enough stress in my life. Let's add some more.

Ken,
That totally SUCKS!!! I can validate that it was wrong of them to do that to you. I guess they (some medical staff) don't realize what we as parents (and you work outside your home- I don't) and spouses have to do to make sure everything will be taken care of after the surgery! We can't just 'reschedule' time off and care takers for the kids. Plus the emotional build up before is a lot. We are happy, scared, nervous and anxious right before we are to have the surgery. To be honest Ken, I think all of us worry that our surgeries will be post-poned or rescheduled. On the brighter side, at least it is for 4 p.m. instead of another day- that would be totally worse I think. Just stay positive and everything will be fine. You will be rolling in the O.R. at 4 or so today! You will be on the flip side- the losing side by tonight. You and all on here will be in my prayers I am 7 days post op and I am grateful to have my surgery done and I am on the road to being a big LOSER! Take care. Hope to hear how you are doing after your surgery Smiles, JENNA
Hey Ken, I bet you are about to go crazy. Like they said take some deep breath and try not to let it get to you. I will tell you a story about a surgery I had on my spine. I was already on the operating room table and they told me the Doctor had the flu and I would have to wait. The had to give me some valium to get me back home. So take care and tomarrow this will all be over.

Hey Ken,
I had my pre-op yesterday and I go in for surgery tomorrow Friday.
I have just come down with a sore throat, I might have to reschedule. I am going to be very upset if this happens. I am emotionally prepared and all my stuff is set as well....My mom has my daughter, my husband has taken leave and I am so ready right now. I feel for you.....It is stressful, especially when your all prepared and ready to get it over with and get on with the new you. We have taken a while to get to this point as it is.
I hope that by the time your read this that you have had your surgery and are doing well.
Jen
