Can I Join?

Hi - My surgery is scheduled for 8/17/05. I am all done with my pre-admission testing and will be starting my liquid diet tomorrow. My program makes you do two weeks of liquids before the surgery. If you are doing the math you can see I am cheating a bit...I'm only doing nine days. I have a feeling this will be a tough nine days but I am commited to do it. I'm glad I found the "August" page. I am hoping to talk with lots of people so that we can share the good, the bad, and the ugly. Personally I hope it's all good for all of us. Lynne

Lynne< good luck to you!! Im right behind ya!! I dont have to do the liquids before surgery. thank God!!! I wonder why some do and why some dont have to? Take care and congrats!!! sheree

hi sheree~ I think it has to do with whether your having open or lap. people having lap go on a liquid diet to help reduce the fatty contents around the liver. That's my understanding anyway. Good luck with your surgery!!! Jenni

Hi, Lynne. Welcome! My surgery is this coming Thursday, the 11th!! My surgeon does not require the 2 week liquid diet or a bowel cleanse. He does ask that you eat "light" for 2 days and then liquids the day before surgery. So, I'm doing the light eating (he gave us a menu to follow) and will do my liquids on Wednesday. I swear my nerves have been keeping me "cleaned" out anyways! May God bless each and every one of us as we prepare for surgery! Tina
