Hi, Tammy. I had my surgery on Monday, August 1st. I had no complications, and I am recouping something beautifully. The Drs. at my hospital said that I exceeded all their expectations, and was probably one of their best ones at recovering--I even went home a day early. I am getting around well, and have had very little need for pain meds. I can tolerate everything that touches my pouch--I have been a lucky one. Kel

I posted yesterday, but I am home. Sore, lots of gas pains, and sick to death of pain, but I'm here!! Every day gets a little bit better. I still need the Lortab elixir to sleep much, but I'm walking around the house often, eating tiny bits at each meal and drinking all I can (no where near enough, but working on it!).

Glad to hear you are home. Everyone's experience is different from the next. My sister is 5 weeks out & she didn't have alot of pain in her belly where the surgery was performed, her was upper chest & shoulder pain from the gas. Keep doing what you are doing & your liquid intake will increase to where you should be. Good luck Tammy

Tammy, I had mine 8/2 and came home on Thursday. I am doing will, tired, a little sore, and really struggling to choke down the nasty tasting protein, but getting in all my water and my skin is really benefitting. Good luck to you on your date! Carrie

Carrie, Great news. Bariatriceating.com has some really good tasting protein. The RTD Extreme Smoothies are great. No after taste at all. I tried the Praline, Chocolate & Capuccino (35 grams of protein in 11oz) and they were awesome. The Elite Chocolate Mint and Berry Blast is also great. I'm real picky when it comes to after taste & these were all delicious. There is a sampler pack that you can get that also has Susan Maria's book in it with tons of recipes. Just a thought on the whole protein thing. Good luck & keep us posted. Tammy

I had mine on August 1st, went home on the 3rd. Only complication is I had a superficial blood clot in my upper left thigh. It will go away in a week or two with constant hot compresses (not a big deal). Doing well with the water and walking. Best of luck to all you upcoming August surgeries. ~ NaTe ~

I had my surgery on August 1st. I came home on August 4th. I think I'm doing well. My biggest complaint right now is that my arthritic knees hurt and make it very difficult to do the walking I'm supposed to do. I have tried using the Loritab elixir at the minimum dose and although it took the edge off, it didn't really allow me to do the walking I'm supposed to be doing. As for the protein, it's been trial and error to find what appeals to me. I first tried mixing unflavored protein powder with sugar free lemonade. Yuck!! Then I tried mixing it with sugar free jello and that's much better. I also have chocolate flavored protein powder and that is YUMMY!! I'm working on increasing my liquid intake but I feel so full and bloated after I eat most things so that's been progressing slowly. Good luck to all of you. I just try to keep in mind it WILL get better!! Patty K
