I have two grandmothers, one is 76 and the other 80. What should I tell them about my surgery...when should I tell them. I don't want them to sit and worry...and I know they will because they have nothing else to do. My surgery is August 18th...any suggestions?

Jill, The best thing you can do is be honest with them. Let them know why you have choosen this route. Let them know that you want them to be involved but there is no reason to worry. Easier said than done, but if they didn't worry, they wouldn't be your grandparents, now would they? Write them a letter--get some of the anexity off of your shoulders and share it with the people that love you, that is what they are there for. Express the desire to be around for them when they will need you the most, and this is a tool to make sure that happens. I hope everything goes well, Good Luck!

Thanks Kellie....I am going to see them next week and let them know that I am going to have surgery....it seems only fair! Thanks for the kind words. Jill

Jill, you know them best so you'll know what feels right. When my dear Mom was living she was very worried about plane crashes. If I was going on a trip by plane, I never told her about it until I was back. I just couldn't stand for her to be upset the whole time I was away, bless her heart.
