Work is not cooperating
I got to work today, and they posted the schedule and they have me working on the day of my surgery! That makes me so angry, I have been waiting on this surgery for a long time. I went and told one of my bosses', and she said we are short that week. Tuff crap, I work in a casino, they can do without me for a while. Thanks for letting me rant for a while, everyone have a good night. My surgery is August 11, and I will be there!!!!

There is always someone looking to pick up extra hours. I'm sure your boss could find *somebody*. Had you already requested the day off? Perhaps an explanation of the surgery is required for your boss. If you already asked for the day off and she put you on the schedule, sounds to me like she isn't a very bright person. It sounds as though she is confusing Gastric Bypass with a mole removal!! I would go into work, sit down with your boss, and explain the procedure (just don't make her feel inferior. This tends to tick people off ). If this doesn't bring her around, go to HER boss.
P.S. Just in case, get a letter from your doc explaining why you needed the day off. Some people are just so dense, it's painful to the rest of us to watch! lol:
Keep us posted.
Good Luck!

after going a round or two with my insurance company to finally get a date..... my boss wanted to move it back a whole month!! I sat down with her and told her exactly how i felt. Even though she was viewing this as an "elective procedure"... i told her how important it was to me.... like she was telling me i couldnt get married on that day... or something like that... i said its not a nose job or mole removal.....its serious surgery! after about a week of "looking into it" I got to keep my date. I think alot of people just dont understand, and we have to HELP them.
Good for you - stand your ground! I hope you didn't tell your boss what you're having done. They don't have a right to know that. If you've told her you're having surgery and how long you expect to be out, that is all she needs/deserves to know. She has no way of knowing whether it is "elective" or not, and that's as it should be.
People, you all have the right to privacy. Don't let your employers intimidate you into telling them your personal business!
