August 16 for me!
Hi! Rose, I'm Sandra and I too have my surgery on August 16th. Isn't it great that we have the opportunity to have such a surgery as this. I thank the Lord for such a wonderful surgeon as He has provided for me. I just did my last shopping for things I need to pack for the "big" day. My family is very excited for me that I will be getting physically better soon, since I have many health problems. I have times when I get nervous about having the procedure, but I understand everyone seems to have it too. I know everything will go fine for the both of us. I will be remembering you in my prayers. Let me know how things go for you. God bless you! Hope to hear from you often.
WOO-HOO on losing the 5 pounds!
I go in for blood work and weigh in this afternoon. The protein powder drinks haven't been a problem at all and the low fat/low carb meals have gone along okay . . . makes me wonder if I lost anything or not.
Sometimes, I am a bit aprehensive - I mean, it is surgery. But, what's even scarier in my life right now is that blue-green-black stuff in the plastic bowl at the back of the fridge!
Since I am a big fan of positive distraction - I'm gonna go take care of that right now!
More later,
Ellen
Surgery date 8.16.05 - just 8 more days!
Day 7 of pre-op diet
219/less than 219 - will find out later today/150 or so
I am on Aug. 16 too!
I have to do a modified liquid diet. Protein shakes for breakfast and dinner and a protein, vegetable and a fruit for lunch. From the sounds of things I got off easy. I am doing Atkins shakes I like the cafe au latte (I miss my lattes so this is close) and chocolate. I lost 10 lbs in one week.
August 16th is my date too. Have been on a meat, egg, and cottage cheese diet for the last 6 weeks per my surgeon. Lost 23 pounds. Today I began the clear liquid diet, plus 90 grams of protein (powder) which will take me to surgery. Shrink liver, shrink!!!!
I have had every preop test in the book and have spent enough time during the last week in hospitals and doctors offices to have finished a 245 page novel. Still need cardio clearance after an echo on Tues. Then I'm leaving for a family reunion, get back on the 14th, cleanse on the 15th, and join you all for surgery the 16th. After what I've been through the last two weeks of tests, it will be a relief.
Good luck to all. It's nice to have virtual "roommates."
