Hi, All! Okay, this may just be nervous/excited rambling, but I have some questions. Have any of you been put on some kind of "bowel cleaning" regimine? Many of you have also been put on liquid diets. Why is this? To shrink your liver? Are you having lapryscopy? My doc hasn't said anything. No diet (liquid or other wise), no "system cleaning", nothing. I show up on the 1st at 0600. Maybe I'm just freaking out?? OH! another thing....have any of you been having second thoughts? I haven't, but a lot of people will come up to me and say, "Wow, your surgery date is close. Having second thoughts?". What a dumb thing to say. My reply is the same. "No, we're charging full steam ahead!". Oh, and another thing....have any of you been eating things you normally wouldn't eat? I think I'm doing this because I'm afraid I won't ever have them again (i.e. wine, REAL ice cream, etc). By the way, my newly divorced brother is coming to town to help hubby take care of our 4yr old. If any of you know any NON PSYCHO women between 35-45, send them my way! I love my brother dearly but he is driving me crazy! He is so lonely he e-mails me ALL DAY LONG! August is almost heeerrrreee, August is almost heeeerrrrreeee!!!! WOOHOO! Cheers! Becca

My surgery is scheduled for 8/2/05 and my pre-op visit with the surgeon is this Friday, 7/22 so I don't know about the bowel cleaning question except to say, you should call your surgeon and speak with him or a nurse to make sure. I'd hate for you to show up and were suppose to do that and didn't. As far as the "freakin' out", YES! I AM! I'm excited but scared. Now that I got a date, it's for real now. So don't feel alone. If my mother in law asks me one more time, "Aren'r you excited?" I will scream. Does she think I'm going to change my mind after all that I went through? Geez! Anyway, good luck and hang in there, you aren't alone.

I just finished my pre op clearances... The only thing my Doc requires besides no smoking or drinking 30 days out is a 2 day bowel prep which is clear liquids only and a bottle of Mag Citrate the night before to clean me out. So now I am all set for Aug 12 ! Most days I do really well with eating..been trying to do low carb/low sugar...but some days I feel like I am eating everything in sight. I figure since I have given up smoking, booze and soda so if I want a bowl of cereal what the heck...I am committed to a new lifestyle and realize my days of cocoa crispys are almost over...ok now I am rambling Here's to us

I think if you werent freaking out a little you wouldnt be normal I have to do a 14 day liquid protein diet and yes it is to shrink the liver so you wont be in the or as long and it gives the surgeon more room to work and I also found out what my bowel prep is it is clear fluids the day before surgery and the evening before I have to drink 2 bottles of mag citrate yummy yeah and I know what you mean my mom keeps bugging me asking if I am sure I want to go through with this I tell her every time H**L yes I do I have went through too much to stop now I am on a roll I told her and everyone I know I am actually not really nervous it is moe of being excited and anxious for it to be here so I can be on the losing side of things and as far as your brother goes the only single females I know dont find men to be their type lol good luck and go ahead and call your surgeon and ask about the cleanout and things when do you go for your pre-op visit? You guys are wonderful! Thanks for all the input. I did call the surgery clinic and was told no bowel cleansing, no liquid diets. Amazing. Could this be because I'm having an "open"? I think I will volunterily do the liquid diet next week. I'm just having a little fit about after surgery and having to use that wooden spoon! Becca

Hi Becca, We are on the same day and I'm also freakin out. I'm having Laproscopic RNY and no bowel prep or liquid diet is needed. They only ask that I stay low-carb, no fat, high protein this week. I've had all my pre-op clearances and I'm going to the hospital tomorrow for the pre-admissions and to meet the anestesioligst. 9 days and counting! See you on the Phat side. ~Judie~ to 2 SW 310 CW 290 DR. GW 190 My GW 150

Hi Becca. I have alot of the same feelings and while I am to go for some preop testing before surgery I am pretty sure it is not any extensive testing. They said it would only take about an hour and just be sure I had it done before surgery day which is 8/5/2005. I also get the "Are you scared?" and the "Are you having second thoughts yet" questions and well I just say no and no but I want to say STFU! Not nice but people can be so insensitive. Anyway good luck on your journey! Kelli
