Had a hard time figuring out where to go to find the Aug/05 board Hey, How much can you eat now 1 yr post op?? I noticed I was able to eat a lot this morning...a lot for me, and I think others too! I had made a new stella style recipe, turkey sausage cooked, in bottom of muffin tin cup and then crack one egg over it, and bake. Then I had several slices of strawberries, and 1 piece of 1 carb toast with a piece of bacon crumbled in it...ate most of it, and wow !! That is a lot!! I couldn't believe it!! I suppose I am going to have to measure my food out....how much does our pouch stretch out??? I heard not much, but it relaxes?? Thanks!! Kinda freaking!! Deb

I'm feeling the same way...I feel like I can eat WAY too much. I don't know how much the puch stretches. I've put on about 19 pounds....and this is really scaring me. I watch what I eat and really haven't changed much about how I was eating. I get my water and protein in. But since May, I've slowly put on 19 pounds. It's very frustrating. I'll be interested to see what others say. Thanks, Tina

Hi Deb, How much I eat changes meal to meal. It depends on how quickly I eat it, how well I chew it, how long I take to eat (I'm supposed to stop after 20 min... which usually isn't a problem as I'm usually done in 5-10), my mood, and what I'm eating. A large meal for me is about 3-4oz of meat, a spoonful of mashed potatos and a spoonful of corn. A normal breakfast is 2 hardboiled eggs & a 4 oz yogurt or cottage cheese. Our pouch doesn't stretch much, but each person's settles at 6-9 oz. That's a lot compared to where we were a year ago. There are two ways to test the size of it if you're so inclined to put yourself in pain. Both are done first thing in the morning, and done quickly until you feel full. You either eat cottage cheese or chicken breast. Cottage cheese is more forgiving since it goes through our pouch much quicker. Just start shoveling and when you feel full... measure what's left. What's missing is the size of your pouch. Dawn 258/135/135
