Time to Weigh In

We're darn close in surgery date, weight and size. May I ask how tall you are? I'm 5'3. Current weight 185. I know why I'm not wearing smaller sizes. I have rolls of skin. Ick!! I can squeeze into smaller but the skin hangs over the tops of my jeans. Luckily, my breast are about the same size. I went from a D/DD to a C/D. My tops will almost always be a large. Cheers, Torrey (281/185/160)

Hey Eileen, Thanks for posting this! It is fun to look back and see the milestone we have all had and the success we've made!! I've been really down on myself lately, so this helps to put it all in perspective! Thanks again! Surgery date weight (8/3/05): 293 Weight today: 195.5 (just 2.5 pounds to century club) Total loose as of today: -97.5 pounds Beginning BMI: 55.4 BMI today: 36.9 (amazing) Clothes size one year ago: 30/32W in bottoms and snug 3x and 4x in tops Unddies 1 year ago: Bra 46B Unddies: Size 14 Clothes size today: misses size 18 in pants and some misses 16. Tops some Med to large...Xlrg is too big now (Wow!) Unddies Today: Bra 38C, Unddies (are you ready?) size 9 I am amazed that at the new sizes, I just bought size 9 unddies this weekend and thought I would need a few weeks to actually fit in them, but NO, they totally fit and the next size I buy will be from the regular size rack, not the just my size rack. Again, Eileen, thanks so much for posting this. It has really lifted my spirits by looking back to where I was and seeing the tremendous changes today. I really needed this boost in my spirit!!! Everyone here is just AMAZING! You are all losers and that makes you winners. If you look at the amount of weight we have lost and the changes in attitudes and behaviors, who could have imagined it just one short year ago. My blood pressure is down and I am off my meds, except for vitamins. If I don't lose another pound, I know that I am a winner at this whole thing. Prior to having this life saving surgery, I couldn't lose weight if my life depended on it. I have yo-yo'd for years and gotten bigger, not smaller. I really believe I was heading for an early end of my life. Now, I think I will be around for a long time. And, I am not embarassed to be seen. I will have a picture taken now. Hoorah! I'm a lurker, chiming in a couple days late! My surgery 8/11/05. I had my one year chekc up yesterday. All is well. I'm the "model" wls patient, so they say. Ha! Good thing they don't follow me around on a daily basis! Like most of you have expressed, my weight has fluctuated in the past couple months. It's aggravating and I've mixed some things up, hoping to get it going again. I'm a teacher and I think being off and out of my regular routine has contributed to that. So, that's one reason I'm looking forward to the start of school this year (among others!). I started at 335 lbs. In June I hit 205, but since then, I have fluctuated up and down 10 pounds. It is scary, but I've gone over things with a fine toothed comb trying to find what it is that is causing my little gain, but myself and the Nut think it's just a matter of upping my protein by adding a supplement so I'm consistently getting 90g or more a day. So, hopefully, that will help. My stats: height: 5'7.5" age: 36 pre-op - 335 current - 210 pre-op size - 26/28, some 30 - pants and tops current - 16 (some women's, some regular....depends on the cut and store); mostly large tops, some xl...again depends on the store and quality of the garment. shoe size pre-op: 10wide current: 8.5-9...regular width Has anyone remeasured their height? I haven't but should. My doc told me that it's possible you could even grow taller...a bit. He said the weight compresses the discs in your back and as you lose, they aren't as compressed. I asked because when they measured me pre-op, I was shorter than I used to be, by about a 1/2 inch or so! I still sometimes have trouble seeing the changes. I know that in my mind, when I picture my face, it's the before face. So it wasn't until I put the two pics side by side on my computer that I was just shocked by the change....and that's just in my face! It's a strange phenomenon! Congrats to all! Hope you have an equally successful 2nd year in all that you do! Tina

hey everyone, surgiversary today (8/10) !! wow, did that go fast or what ? i've been stuck bouncing around 215 for at least 3 months, i hope this isn't the end of the journey because i want to get down to 150 (i'm about 5'10 1/2"). that's my goal, based on my past weight history. nobody associated with my surgery ever said anything to me about what my goal weight should be, in fact, the program's RN/nutritionist said that the definition of success is losing 25% of the excess weight, but i thought she was out of her mind when she said that. day of first consult: 316 day of surgery: 300 could somebody please tell me which of these (316 or 300) should be the first weight in the ###/###/### configuration everybody uses? yesterday's weight: 211 goal weight: 150ish i'm feeling tons more energetic than i can ever remember, went by myself on 2-week vacation to france last month and attended a week-long dance festival, dancing from 10:30 am to 3:30 am for a week straight, who would have had the ability or energy to do that at 316 lbs !?!? course i still gained 2 lbs but maybe the red wine had something to do with that love to all of you surgery sisters, --justjill

Hi JustJill! Way to go on your weight loss! The lil /// thing is for: start weight/ current weight/ goal weight. So yours would be 316/211/150. I'd just go with 316 if I were you. That is where you started at when you started your journey. Again, lookin good! -Lynn Lap RNY 8-16-05 297/181/150

Ohh...this is a fun thread to read! I started at 284 in May '05 Got to 252 for surgery Aug '05 Now at 141 for a total loss of 143lbs!!! I feel amazing, am not limited physically in any way and feel happier than I have in over a decade. I would really like to lose about 15 more pounds as I'm only 5'1 but haven't lost in about 6 weeks cause I'm eating bad things at night sometimes. MUST STOP THIS! Ugh! Everyone is doing so good...we have lost a ton of weight!!
