My appetite has returned and it is ferocious! What should I do to decrease it? I've been told that caffeine and sugar can increase the appetite, so I'm cutting out the caffeine starting with my morning coffee tomorrow. I don't really eat a lot of sugar since I usually use Splenda sparingly, but the little I do, I'm going to cut as well. Any suggestions? Additionally, what snacks should I eat? I've been eating nuts, some fruit and jerky, but nuts have a lot of calories, and jerky has a lot of salt. I guess that I'll go to bed soon so I don't eat again tonight. I'm heading back to my support group meeting for advice in Aug. since I haven't been going lately. Any advice you have is appreciated! Thanks, Jackie B.

I am facing this too and last week I noticed eating more and snacking and I am worried I might havve streched my pouch (I guess that isa normal fel for me everytime I eat something extra) I just worry that my pouch will stop working and I will gain a million lbs. I guess I am worried about failure but I have lost close to 150 lbs and want to loose another 15 - 20 lbs and I have my mind convinced it is over and I wont loose the weight so I am glad to see someone else is haveing the same issue as me with the food and appetite. I guess I will start back to making sure i eat plenty of protein, no snacking and water and also I will cut out the caffine. Thakns for letting me rant and also the tip on caffine and the appetitie.

Wow, almost 150 lbs. That's great. I really need to lose about another 30 lbs. even though one of my doctors thinks that I should be about 110 lbs. which would mean about 50 lbs. more to lose, not just 30 lbs. I don't believe that I ever weighed about 110 lbs., maybe in elementary school, so that's really not a realistic goal for me. I'm also going to increase my exercise too. I'm hoping to join an exercise boot camp in my area when they have their next group meet. Good luck and thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only one who is fighting their old appetite. Jackie

Gosh I am so happy to see this post. I have been feeling so hungry and feeling like I am eating so much more than I should. I try still not to snack and try to get all my water in....I have not gained anything...I actually am still losing. I have lost 150 lbs so I guess I should be happy with that. I have made both my personal goal....One to be able to wear a 12 in pants and to be in a large top and Two to weigh less than 200lbs. I just got to keep that saying in my head....Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels! I have to repeat that daily. I have also decided today that I will reward myself once a week with something that I want but only if I get my exercise in. I have been slacking with the summer time and being so busy but I am always on the move and working in my lawn so I guess I am still getting exercise in. Just bought my first house. What a good year 2006 has been...New me...New house...new wonderful boyfriend. Life is good! Hang in there and email anytime!

Hi Kate, Congrats on everything! I too just bought a new house and it is a wonderful feeling for a first time home owner. I am also hungry more these days, but I get full fast. I have been eating more snacks in the afternoon and evening but they are usually healthy. I sure am glad to hear that someone is still loosing. My weight loss has slowed down to about 1/2 a pound a week if I'm lucky. I loose the most at period time. I know that is unusaul but my whole journey has been unusual. I've lost 96 pounds so far and have just 4 more little pounds to go to get to the century club. On 8/3 I'll celebrate one year post-op and hope to be down to 196...3 pounds til century club. Well, at least I made it to onederland. That is amazing to me. I do love being thinner and healthier. Life is great. Again, congrats on your new accomplishments and enjoy the journey!!
