Gallbladder Question..............

I just posted this on the California Board but thought I should post here to. I've been having some pain (not severe) on my rightside under my rib cage. I've been reading online and it suggest that it could be the gallbladder. Has anyone els had problems with there gallbladder and what were there symptoms? At what stage did you start having problems? I'm just 10 months out from having surgery. Thanks for any of your comments. Debbie

Hi Debbie! I had my gallbladder out almost 14 years ago. If your pain isn't severe, I doubt it's your gallbladder. When I had attacks, it was SEVERE! Felt like I was having a heart attack. Literally. I was doubled over in pain that lasted anywhere from a few minutes to a hour and then as quickly as it came on, it would disappear. The pain is caused from stones getting stuck in the bile duct. The pain will radiate to your back too. The only way to tell if it is your gallbladder is to have an ultrasound done on your gallbladder to check for stones. Good luck with finding out what is causing your pain. Hopefully it's just gas or something! Lori

Might wanna check with your doc.......My surgeon automatically takes out the gallbladder on his open RNY's cause he said he got tired of going back in and taking them out after the surgery. He's done it for 30 some odd years and never lost a paitent yet...........Good luck!!
