Totally frustrated!
Hi August Buddies,
Sorry for the little emot guy with the tongue sticking out, but it is exactly how I feel. Once again, I am frustrated with this weight loss process. For 2 weeks I have been battling the same 2 to 3 pounds and all I can say is arrrrgh!!!!!!
I go from 201 back to 203 to 202 to 203 to 201 to 203 again and again!! It is driving me crazy. I have also noticed that the inches are not coming off either. I know that this plateau is going to break, it just needs to break quicker. I feel like I am finished with the weight loss and I know I should be happy, but I am not.
I have posted some new pictures on my journal page, so if you are interested, take a peek.
Hopefully, I'll be in a better mood soon! For now, sorry for being a pain in the butt about this, I just needed to vent.
Thanks,
Lori

Lori,
I can relate. I lost weight like crazy in the beginning (27 pounds in the first week!) and by Jan I had lost about 120 pounds, and since then only 20 more, but it seems like my weight has stayed the same for weeks. I was thinking maybe this is where I am going to stay; after all, tehy do say that most patients lose 60% - 80% of their excess weight, and I have done that already; however, I would so love to get under 200, if only for one day.
I tell you, a couple weekends ago, I was feeling like giving up. I went to a friend's for the weekend, in a town where I used to live. I went out drinking on Saturday, after not really eating anything all day. I had about 6 (ok, maybe it was 8) Grey Goose and cranberry juices at the bar, then went to Taco Bell and got a burrito. So, of course, in the morning, I was not feeling so good, so I went to what used to be my favorite donut shop, whee they have delicious homemade cream, and got 2 Vanilla Cream donuts. I spent the rest of the day drinking coffee with real cream and sugar. When I weighed myself Monday morning, expecting the worst, I found I had lost 7 pounds since Saturday morning. Of course, I am not advocating donuts and liquor as a great diet. It's just funny the way it works. You can do everything right and see no results, and pay no attention at all and have success. I still have not figured it out.
Anyway, I think you are doung great, and when you least expect it, your weight loss will jump.
By the way, I can totally relate to hating your arms! I have arms like Gorgeous George, hanging like big slabs of meat. Uggghhhh.
Good luck to you,
Carrie
Lori,
You are doing great. I know how we get frustrated over these plateaus. Actually for a couple of weeks I was gaining weight lol. The Doc said it might be the heat because it was sooooooo hot here for a couple of weeks.
I guess we just have to be patient, I know its hard and the beginning was so wonderful with the weight coming off so quickly. Have you tried anything like upping your protien or water intake? I actually have something that someone posted on the main message board and he said I could share it. It is a plateau buster idea. I will look for it and post it in a thread of its own, cause I think others would get use from it as well
Keep up the good work
Joyce
Lori,
You look Great......
You're not alone with your feelings. Personally, I was 191.5 the beginning of May, and was 189.5 the beginning of June. Only 2 lbs for the entire month. I did see 187 once in June. (very short lived) Then over the last couple weeks, I've been showing numbers from 191.5 to 193.... Enough to drive someone crazy .... I have noticed myself wanting to munch & grabbing the evil carbs (crackers etc) NO SUGAR THOUGH. that's a big .... Never want to get back into that. Anyway, I'm gonna count my carbs & really watch the in between meals snacks. If I really need something, I'll go for cheese or some other kind of protein.
At any rate, I don't think it's over....just slower.
Keep your chin up, we'll make it together.
Tammy
Hi Lori,
I think we have all experienced this at some point in the last couple of months. I went through the month of April not losing more than a couple of lbs. Then it started to drop off again. I notice when I DON'T EXERCISE I stop losing. When I get back on the exercise wagon, the lbs starting coming off again.
I wish you lots of luck. I know you are not DONE yet! We still have a couple of months before we can start worrying about that! Even after a year, it IS possible to continue to lose.
We are here for you during this difficult time. And I know it can be VERY difficult to just stop or lose the same couple lf lbs over and over. But we will get through this together!
Lori
Hi Lori -
Been a LONG TIME! i just went through your profile- you are doing a fabulous job-
never lose site of where you started and your achievements.. You look so completely different than you did last Summer..I keep reminding myself..and I have to stop and
enjoy where I am in the journey.. No Im not where I want to be weight wize-
Im still at 220- I suspect Im lower- but its TOM & my hormones are crazy
But in the meantime- step up your exercise- begin using hand weights when you walk- it will help build muscle in your arms..I used to use 5lb hand weights when I worked out on the stairmaster or the treadmill - but I also like to box- and having a soft hand weight strapped around my fist- gave me more feeling of impact - over the course of a week to a month- you'd be surprised how the weights affect your muscles. You can get hand weights at any sportsgood or even Target. I got mine at NY Sports Authority.Also- the weights will spur on additional weight loss- because the muscles will burn fat- whether you are at rest or asleep.. so don't think of yourself as being overfat- think of yourself as being undermuscled ( we all are) and work to change that, and you will kick yourself into Onderland. Also- check to see if your protein levels are say 60-80gms a day. Ive been increasing mine to this- but cant really tell right now. I feel like a newbie postop- trying to manage all my protein again.
have a great day!
Donna
