Frustrated
Well this is a first for me...posting on here. I am so frustrated though. I have not lost any weight since mid April. In fact, I keep losing and gaining the same 5 lbs. I was 2 lbs. from a loss of 100 lbs. and now I am 5 pounds away. Is the journey over for me? My appetite has returned and I feel that I am starting to easily gain weight again. Anyone else feeling this way?

Hi Julie,
Welcome to the board and it's a shame you haven't been here - at least not posting. Yep... all the regulars feel the same way. I started with hunger and snacking back in Feb. when I got sick and it hasn't stopped really. It took me about 2 1/2 months to lose the last 5 to hit goal and I know some of the other ladies have been struggling as well. If you read some of the other posts you'll see an exercise set and a monthly goal set. They're both there because others took a proactive line to the struggle. Join us. As Tammy noted, our Exercise Accountability Cheerleader, a true stall is when you see no weight or inch loss in 4 weeks. You don't sound stalled, you sound off track. Go back to basics for 10 days. Be real religious on the water, no snacking, protien, vitamins, etc. Join us on the new exercise challenge. You'll get there. Remember, we've been given, what I consider the world's best weightloss tool, it's just up to us to use it correctly.
Hope to see more of ya here online!

Hi Julie,
I posted last week about having a big appetite. I got so worried that I went and saw my nutritionist about it. Now, I am keeping a food journal and I send it to her every two weeks. This has been really good in the past, but it take commitment. My problem was and still is night time snacking and I still do it, I just make better choices at night now. This system works well for me because not only do I have to write it down, but I have to send it to my nutritionsit, so being held accoutable to someone else really works for me... atleast for now. I haven't lost much weight since March, but since I am eating better, the pounds are coming off again! Good luck with your journey, and NO, it's not over

Hi Julie...
Welcome. It's always wonderful to have new posts. You're not alone. Seems, at this point, we are all starting to struggle with old habits. Stay strong, post post post.... It sure helps me to be accountable for everything.
It's not over.... It's the fact that we're back in the "Real World" now & we really need to watch things....
Keep us posted... We'll make it together.

Hi Julie,
I was doing the same thing and asked my doctor and it is very normal. I stayed the same for 8 weeks. I was training for a 5k and working out a lot. I finally after the 8 weekss just dropped between 3-5 pounds depending on the day. You are not at the end. Watch what you eat and exercise and you will be able to lose just at a slower pace then before. These are the plateaus that you have heard about and this is the point we are at. I just finally lost that 100 lbs and thought it would never happen but it did. Keep your chin up.

I agree with what everyone has said- and I know from exercising- if you have no fuel in your tank- you are not gaining or LOSING anything..thats why you keep doing the same 5lbs. My suggestion is to up your protein increase it to 60gms a day and up your water. Get some great summertime protein- like Nectar's Roadside Lemonade or their Lemon Iced Tea or Cappucino flavor protein. They mix wonderfully with water. the lemonade is light and you can drink it alone with cold water or mix in some Crystal Light lemonade for more body..Their Iced Tea tastes a LOT like Diet Arizona iced tea- either lemon or diet peach from Arizona- mixes well with Nectar's brand..and also their Fuzzy Navel- is like a tangerine/ orange flavor and mixes well with Crystal Light sunrise.. have not tried the cappucino one yet- but Ive heard its good.. So do a shake- add in an extra protein bar that will bring you up 40gms a day then plus whatever you are doing.
ALSO- exercise is what will raise your metabolism and get the fat furnace burning. So it sounds like- you are stuck and may just need a change of routine. Try a different aerobic workout for a week- or take a class or instead of doing the treadmill do the stairmaster or- begin working with dumbbells or hand held weights- the weights will build muscle- you will lose more fat- and increase your metabolism. think of your muscles as mini fat furnaces - the more they are built up- the leaner you are- is how you should think about muscle mass in your body.
Join our postings with Tammy and keep coming back. We all learn from each other and its really a great community here. Welcome !

Like everyone else I haven't lost much (according to the scale) but I have gone down a size or two. At my 9 month appointment I was 3 pounds from being in a normal weight range and only .2 % away from a normal body fat! Woo hoo!
I still don't have a huge appetite but when I get the munchies I head for my sugar free popsicles.
My doc suggested that I go off caffeine prior to surgery and I have stayed off (I never want to go through that withdrawl again!) and I think that is helpful in not feeling hungry. I still have my 2 protein shakes a day.. actually a protein latte in the am and a shake for my midafternoon snack.
I think exercise is critical. Keep walking!
