Topic: RE: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PEOPLE!!!!
Linda, my good friend. I can't believe it is 3 years since our lives changed. I can say one thing for sure. There are so so so many things I could now do that I could never could have been able to do if I was still obese. I am going to celebrate eating a king size steak, with all the fat trimmings. Then eat a double chocolate cake with ice cream on top. Then, then I will wake up from my dream. Happy Anniversary to you all. P.S. I will celebrate with a..............

I thank god everyday that all went well. i wish you the best ever. i kow how hard it is to ALWAYS be hungry. Alma

You need to get back to basics. Get all the junk out of the house and don't buy anymore. De-carb your body for a week and it'll be a lot easier for you. It is not impossible to still lose at three years out, i can do it and so can you. If you want an accountability buddy pm me, i'll support you. I know it's hard when you have a baby and work full time, but it's only an excuse and you need to take charge! Linda

Topic: RE: Feeling Pain
Sounds exactly like the pain I had--almost thought for a while I might be having a heart attack--it was my gall bladder. They removed it and problem solved. The WLS surgery can really mess up the gall bladder and lots of people end up having it removed after WLS. Go to your PCP. Good Luck!

Topic: RE: CAN I ASK A ???????
When I get busy and know my choices might suffer from this, I carry a couple things: Think Thin Protein Bars which are O sugar, low carb, 20 gram protein bars that taste good. If you crave chocolate-- Cliff Nectar bars are good-- they use date sugar--still sugar but it processes slower and the raw food is good for you. I drink lots of protein shakes (Whey Gourmet flavors taste like ice cream cones) and I drink Zero Carb Isopure Vanilla and Chocolate Flavors. Because I love love love coffee, I use some instant expresso, cappuchino flavored protein, water (or carb countdown milk) and ice to make a morning coffee shake. I carry rolled up turkey meat, small apples, small bananas, Dannon Light and Fit yogurt and I eat lots of berries (so good for you and low cals) but I think one of the things I really had to do was wait out hunger. I certainly can eat a a lot more than I used to so I religiously weigh everything--even things I pack as snacks. I also get hungrier more often and quicker so I just have to tell myself I won't die if I wait out the hunger feeling and hang on until snack or meals. Hard-Boiled eggs, Homemade muffins made with Splenda or applesauce, fruit, whole wheat and oat flours and oat bran and some added vanilla protein are great (make them small so you can keep within the serving size). Dried fruit is good too (if it is not difficult to chew and swallow and you eat just a serving and keep an eye on the fructose sugar) and will help keep up iron stores. Muscle milk, muscle milk puddings and sf jello pudding cups are great snacks--add some vanilla or chocolate protein to the "make from the box instant" kind and pour them into travel containers to up the ante. I am three years out--lost 234 pounds and weigh 127. I have kept the weight off all this time doing this type of stuff. Go to Susan Maria's Bariatric Eating.com site for really healthy "travel with you" foods especially suited for us WLS folks. Good Luck!!! let us know how it goes for you!

Topic: RE: peanut butter
I never had a problem with peanut butter until after my surgery, then it really bothered me. Too much fat (in all brands) and WAY too much sugar in most brands. Even the natural kind that you grind yourself really upset me and made me sick--it is akin too (or might even be) dumping. After a while even peanuts and other fatty nuts started to bother me. Besides, there are much better ways to get protein that are denser, leaner, will make you feel fuller longer and won't add all the high calories, fat and sugar that PB has. Truly, unless it is your absolute "must have" food, I would eliminate it from your diet. The cals aren't worth it when there is much better stuff out there. If you must have it, try Think Thin Peanut Butter Protein Bars--which are really good, sugar free, low carb and have 20 grams of protein.

Topic: RE: Hair Loss
Same thing happened to me: my solution--Vista Vitamins and Complete EFA caps from Vitacost three times a day. Made a HUGE difference. The pills are big (don't know if you have trouble with that) so there might be an alternative to the large pill. Good Luck!
