Topic: RE: DID YOUR INSURANCE COVER TUMMY TUCK AND BREAST LIFT?
Carmen,
I'm wondering the same thing. I'm just now beginning to inquire about the tummy surgery. I have Cigna and know I'm gonna have an uphill fight all the way. I've heard that if you're having back pain from the weight of the skin, or rashes under the fold, the insurance companies are more likely to deem it "medically necessary" and willing to pay for it. So guess what? My back now hurts and when I shower, I'm no longer drying under the folds and will hopefully get a slight rash so I can visit my Dr and have it documented. The things we'll do for vanity LOL....

OK OK, I have come to confess my sins, and beg forgiveness....I've not been at all good at posting, in fact, truth be told, I've not even visited the OH site since about 3 months post op...I have the age old excuse "I've been sooo busy"..hours turn into days, days to weeks, weeks to months and then all of a sudden you wake up and it's been nearly two years...so, I'm headed off to the public square and will take my due flogging like a big girl...oh, wait, I'M NOT A BIG GIRL ANYMORE WOOOOOHOOOO!
Congrats to US,,,WE ROCK....Hugs to all, Carol : -D

Debra, it is true people are doing so many things now. People have reached their goal or are close to it. I see you mention you have a support group. That is fantastic. If most people who are from the August 2004 don't post because they are busy and are starting to live a new life being normal weight, then I am so happy for them. I can feel you are very happy. That makes us also very happy. Take care.

Laura, tell your brother from all of us that we are so happy for him. Maybe he can take a picture with you. Then you can post it on your profile. Take care.

Oh, thanks for asking about my brother. He's doing so great. His surgery was March 14, and he's already lost 90 pounds!!! Wow! I'm so proud of him, and he is feeling so much better since his post-surgical scare.
He isn't able to eat "regular foods" yet, but we were all that way right after surgery. Hard to remember back that far.
Rod (my brother) says he still has a long way to go, but he's going to make it. I'm really very happy and thrilled with his progress! Thanks again for asking.

Hello... I dont think this is the end of the August board...I think most people are close to their goal and are doing so many things now.... now that we can...
me I have a support group that meets here at my house the 3rd monday of each month and that keeps me busy... plus my regular job and my teenage sons and we have a exchange student from korea so we are always running....
i do post daily on the texas board... we do meetings all the time...get togethers...
I am at my doctors goal but not at mine...I go between 125 - 130... I want to get lower but I am happy where I am... wearing any where from a size 2 - 8 depends on the clothes...
I try to get back to the august board but forget alot of the time...
I know our 2 yr anniversary is coming up so I am sure more will be posting...

Laura, when your right your right. Many people are starting a post-surgery life. I could tell by your words that you are very happy. I went to see pictures of you on your profile and you look wonderful. With due respect to your husband you look HOT! You mention you want to do missionary work. That is great. When I was in high school I wanted to be a monk. Being a little crazy is ok because it keeps you sharp. Plus your family says that because they want to be next to you all the time. It is sweet. I will respect that we might not hear from you that often. Just let us know how you are doing once in a while. The best way to let us know you are doing great is posting a message. Plus don't forget to keep on adding more great looking pictures of you. Concerning the pictures of me, I will try very hard to put them up before my 2 year anniversary. I promise you. Take care and keep feeling and looking geat.
P.S. Did you have a brother that had surgery? If so how is he doing?
Topic: RE: Is this the end?
No, Louis, I don't think it's the end of this message board, but perhaps it is the end of the beginning of our new lives post-surgery. We're all doing so well that we rarely get back to the post to check on others and compare our own woes and wonders with how everyone else is doing.
Perhaps we finally feel normal? Perhaps some of us still struggle with weight?
I try to keep it between the numbers.....never letting myself go over 190, and would LOVE to see it get below 180, but I keep it around 185 most of the time. That seems to be a workable weight for me.
Since my weight has always been on my mind since childhood, it is really nice not to have to worry about it much at this time in my life. I still have to stay away from "bad foods" or too much snacking. There are many things that I could do to push these last pounds off my body, but for one reason or another----I don't give it too much effort.
I've done well. I am very happy. Work is going well and my family life is good. I would really love to do something new and different now....besides just with my career. I have been thinking about missionary work, but my family is not behind me right now with this idea, and so I haven't been moving seriously in this direction. My husband and kids think I'm a little crazy, but perhaps they are correct.
We'll have to see.
Still, we haven't seen any pics of you yet, Louis! When will you reveal your handsome face???

hello Ruthy, I am glad you are part of the group that doesn't want this board to die. Because of you and others this board will not die. Keep it up with your protein intake. So sorry that your support group in 60 miles away. If it is any help, we can be your support group. Also sorry about your doc not knowing much about weight lose. We all promise you you will get replys the next time you post a message on the board. Remember we are in it together for life. We understand what we have been through. Personally for me this board is where I can talk freely about my weight and be understood. I can talk to love ones but they really don't understand the life long proces after the surgery. They see me thin, and they believe my obesity is over. We all know this is a life long process. Take care.
