Topic: RE: The Almost-in-the-Century-Club Club
Hi Leslie!
I'll join!
Since my surgery on 8/11, I have lost 93 lbs; 7 lbs away from the century club!
I guess I am kind of a member of the club, though, because I have lost 129 lbs since I started my surgeon's program. In January 2004, I weighed 268 lbs. But I pretty much only count the weight lost since surgery so it doesn't get confusing.
Hugs,
Denise

Topic: Side benefit of Lifting weights
HI all,
I had to share this cuz it struck me as funny. A month ago I started weight training. Small weights, lots of reps. I have tightend a lot and built some great muscle. Before I started my lifting the twins were drooping pretty bad! I got a sports soft bra and started sleeping in it! could not go without bra!!! Well when I was changing tonight I happened to look in the mirror again. They are higher. I have noticed muscle tightness in my shoulders and chest area but never thought to look there! Well anyway without even knowing I am working them also!!! Yeah!!!

A month after my 1 year anniversary I am riding in a 16 mile offroad Moutain bike race for the first time. I have always wanted to do it but couldn't. This year I can't wait. My husband and I have matching Jerseys.
Prior to that, when I hit the century mark I am going to have a full day at the day spa with mud wrap and monsoon shower, pedicure and nails. I am getting my teeth whitened in July as well.
I couldn't wait to get my rings resized so I did that earlier in the month. I coudn't stand to be without my wedding ring. I am so thankful for this everyday.

I bought myself a Coach purse. I have always wanted one....bought that plus the matching key ring...spent over $300...probably stupid, but I thought I deserved it!

I'm going to Universal Orlando this summer with two old friends from school! We're leaving the husbands and kids at home, and we're just going to have 5 action-packed, fun days to frolic and play and laugh---just like we used to do when we were kids!
By this date, I will hopefully have hit my "under 200 pounds" goal. I'm at -72 pounds now, but I am almost the same size that I was in college, when I weighed 30 pounds less than I do now! I think the exercise has helped with toning.
But, for my special treat (to myself), I plan to indulge in an hour-long massage when I get below 200 pounds. Can't wait to get there! (Also, I really love shopping for new clothes!)

Wow! You've been through a lot! You really have a lot to be angry about---especially in light of the poor post-operative care you've received from your surgeon. I am sorry about that.
I take vitamins in the morning and at night. Centrum and Caltrate and a Vitamin C (each twice daily). In addtion to this, I take Premarin for my "female" health. That's it. I get my B-12 shots regularly, and two months after each shot, I start taking B-12 orally again.
My surgeon allows us 5 post-op visits. The first is one week post-op. The rest are at 3-month intervals. My 6-month checkup was earlier this month, and it went very well. He was pleased with my progress and would like to see me lose a little more by my 9-month visit in early summer.
Every surgeon is different (I've learned this from reading the board postings), but you'll have to decide for yourself what is your best course of action to take. Ask lots of questions and find a good doctor (locally) that can help you with your post-operative needs. If your surgeons don't take care of you, then you probably should report that to your state health board. They ought to know about the sub-standard care that you've received.
Good luck to you.
