Topic: RE: Numbness in Left Leg
I noticed when I am doing Pilates that my feet get numb, but I have not had any numbness in general. You might want to call the doctor, to check and to make yourself feel better. Take care Alicia 240/141/130

Topic: Counting Calories -- Good idea or Bad idea?
Lately I have noticed that I pay more attention to the calories in my food. Right after the surgery I couldn't eat that much, so calories were not a concern. My concern was getting enough protein and water. Now that I can eat more I notice I will not eat certain foods (peanuts, cheddar cheese, etc.) if they have to many calories. Since I have been doing this I have noticed two things. First thing is that I am eating less food protein, so I have to supplement with protein drinks. I do nectar, so the protein is high and the calories low. The other thing is that I have become pretty obsessive about entering in all my food in FitDay. I have failed in every diet in the past, so I don't want to get on that wheel again. But...I want to make sure I am using this tool as effectively as possible. Do you count calories? If so, how much do you eat in a day? Thanks. Alicia 240/141/130

I have a new picture. Thank You 'OH Photo Team' for all your hard work. I hadn't had a new picture since my December px and that was about 45 lbs. ago. I've had to cut my hair since it's gotten so thin, but hey, I'm not complaining! Best~barb 276/171/150

Well I'm down 148 pounds and I feel great, I've never had a complication or a worry. This is amazing I wish I would have done it sooner! Keep up the good work everyone! Jamie 308-160

Thanks Denise! This is a great idea. I don't post often due to time constraints, but I love keeping up with all of you fellow August babies. I consider you family! Thanks for all the support you give! Date of surgery: 08/12/04 Weight day of surgery: 278 Current weight: 188 Total lost since surgery: 90 Total lost since highest weight (if you lost weight for your program as a requirement): 102 from highest of 290 Goal weight: 125 personal; 140-150 doc (I'm only 5'1" so that seems high!) Pounds to goal: 63 personal; 38-48 doc Starting size in clothing: 24W/3X Current size in clothing: 14/L Starting shoe size: 6.5W or 7 Current shoe size: 6 or 6.5 Any other comments you want to add about your journey: This is such a blessing to me. I'm amazed that this new way of living already feels normal. I don't miss the old ways as much as I thought I would. I still have major body image issues and have trouble seeing myself as others do, but I am beginning to feel the wonderful sensation of "normal." It's so nice to buy regular clothes and to know that I'm not automatically the heaviest person somewhere. That feeling, even more than the pounds lost, is incredible to me. I keep thinking that I still have 100+ lbs. to lose and am always shocked that I don't have so much. For so long, I've just wanted to weigh in the 100s and "only" have 50 or so to lose. Now that it's a reality, it's hard to break out of the old thought processes! Granted, weighing 188 at 5'1" is still too heavy, but it's a heckuva lot closer to where I should be than 290 was. Hooray! Take care, friends, Kathryn

Topic: Numbness in Left Leg
Has anyone experienced numbness in their legs or feet since surgery? I have fallen 2x (at night on my way to the bathroom)because I couldn't support myself on my legs which were asleep. Sunday nite I broke my pinky toe because of it. I have a friend who had a problem because she didn't take vitamins after surgery, but I have religiously been taking mine. I don't want to make a mountain out of a mole hill, I'm just wondering if any of you have experienced this. thanks Barbara RNY 8/16/05 296/216 -80
