Topic: RE: 8/16ers Update
Thanks Maria...I've been so depressed that my weight had slowed down so drastically. Plus, I was starting to compare myself to others, that had even less weight than I had to lose, and they were surpassed me in their weight loss. I know we aren't supposed to compare to eachother, but it is so hard not too. I'm really hoping to lose another 35 between now and my one year appointment sometime in August, I'm hoping that isn't unrealistic. The surgeon said I should be down 130 by my one year and I told him, know I was going to be down 150 (which is his total goal for me), although another 35 lbs. would put me at 142 lbs....but I'll take it!
I just want to prove to him that I can be at his goal in one year. Then the last 35 or 40 are going to be my greatest accomplishment. I would love to be down to 165 by my 2 year appointment. Hopefully that isn't too aggressive of a goal!
Thanks again!

Hi Ladies! I have been having a FANTASTIC week!!!
I have lost 6 lbs. since Monday, and 11 lbs. since 4/11...I can't believe it is finally moving again! I'm so excited! I have now lost 107.6 lbs! I'm hoping that I can keep on this track and keep moving downward. I feel like a failure every single time the weight stops, or it goes back up, so I'm feeling like a pretty big winner the past 1 1/2 wks. In the last 4 weeks I have also lost another 3.5", 2 of which came off my hips. I'm guessing that has just been the last 1 1/2 weeks though, I bought pants Tuesday a week ago that were too tight (2 pair), and they both fit me this week, I wore one pair on Wed., and the other pair today....and with all my new clothes, I look cute if I might add! I really think that this second job is really helping with the weight loss, I have been there 1 1/2 weeks, so I don't think it is a coincidence.
Anyway...I had to share my good news....
I have a new pic added to my profile, one of my new outfits, has a little wrinkle to it from driving to work, but I think I looked cute...check it out!!!

Topic: RE: 8/4 RNY, Major Plateau!
My surgery was the day before your's. I too hit a plateau when I was about 6 months out. I finally decided to go to the gym 3 days a week on 2/9. They weighed and measured me then and then they do it periodically to track your loss. When I got weighed and measured on 4/14 (a meer 2 months later, and there were times I only made it twice a week), I found out that I had lost 20.5 pounds and 19 inches since February!
Starting to exercise really kicked me back into losing. In fact, I lost 3 pounds from last Friday to this past Wednesday! I only wish I had started exercising earlier. I have a feeling that these flappy thighs aren't going to get any smaller. However, it gets hot here and I WILL wear shorts. If folks don't wanna look at my thighs, they can turn their heads! *LOL*
Just remember, we all lose the weight at different paces. I know of a woman who had WLS last spring and is only down about 50 pounds. Then you take someone like me, it's been less than 9 months and I've lost 130 of the 148 I want to lose.
The best dieting advice I can offer is to definitely stay away from the carbs. I was stunned when I realized I could eat about 3/4 of a Wendy's Single when I was really hungry. I stopped going there. I didn't want to fill up on bread! I now usually get a chicken salad of some sort when I go out to eat. I do go to Subway, but instead of a sub, I get a wrap. I eat about half of it for lunch and the other half for dinner.
The biggest thing is to definitely start exercising though. It will jump start your metabolism and you'll start losing weight again. I almost guarantee it.
Best of luck to you on breaking that plateau. You can do it!
Topic: RE: Roll Call For 8/3s
Wow! You all are doing so well!
Good Jobs!!!!
I know I'm late, but better late than never, right?
Since my RNY on 8/3, I've lost a total of 130 pounds. I did the calculations and that's 87.8% of the weight I want to lose. I have 18 more pounds until I reach my primary goal of 140.
I definitely have more energy. I'm doing a lot of things I know I wouldn't have even considered had it not been for the WLS... I'm going out with the girls dancing at least once a month, I got a tattoo for my 30th birthday a few months ago, I am attending college for the first time EVER, and the main reason for the WLS, I'm finally get my hip replaced on 6/13!
I used to barely fit into a 4x and I now wear large shirts! Bottoms that need buttoning up are 14's and 16's, yet things with elastic are mediums! The cool thing is, they're no where near to being stretched to capacity! They actually FIT! My chest has deflated from a 58EE to a 42D, but I still look good!
I spent so many years wearing my clothes until they fell apart that while I am enjoying getting new clothes (mostly hand-me-downs), I am irked with it all. The biggest thing lately is that I had to replace 2 bras that cost me $30 a piece. They were only 4 months old! I really can't stand having to get different clothes when nothing is wrong with the old ones (except that they're too big).
I know there was more I wanted to share, but I've drawn a blank. I'll be sure to be back on 5/3 to update!

Topic: I just realized...
Hi all,
I just realized something while looking at fitday.com. Yes I have been a slow loser.
But when I look at the weight loss report it has been steady.
I did notice that dramatic drop for the first 6 mos and then a major slow down. Am I still losing? YES!
I am losing 5 lbs a month. Record setter? NO. But still going!!
Just made me realize that I need to SHUT UP all my negative thoughts.
Keep up what I am doing; stop comparing myself and be happy!
Good luck to you.

Hi,
I also hit a plateau. I needed to increase my water and up my protien. I was not gaining but I realized that I was eating way too many carbs. Once I did this, I started to lose again.
Don't let people compare you. Did she have more to lose? Most people have hit the century club by now. NOT ME! I'm slow but still going.
Good luck,
Karin

Topic: 8/4 RNY, Major Plateau!
Hey there! This is my first post to my official 'group.' I need help!
Okay, granted, I went from a 22/24 to a 16/18, people who haven't seen me in awhile don't recognize me, people I have worked with for years do a double take when they see me, I feel sexier and healthier.
That being said, I'm on a plateau - at only 8 months out!
Meanwhile, my best friend who had surgery in November and was bigger than me has sailed right on past me, and to add insult to injury, we work in the same office and I know people are comparing the two of us when they see us together.
I feel like such a failure. Is it my fault? You betcha! I have't been exercising like I am supposed to. I probably eat more carbs than I'm supposed to. And, I'm ready to make a change.
I feel like I'm entering phase two of my journey. I've started exercising twice a day (30 minutes each), and am about to go back on Atkins. I know I can keep the weight off (I've fluctuated between 193 and 197 for two months).
Has anyone been where I am now? What did you do? I have to go see my surgeon for my 9 month checkup in 3 weeks, and I feel like a failure!
