Topic: RE: I almost got picked up in a bar!
I've had similar experiences to Norma.
The girls in my hubby's family actually started a monthly "girls night out" around January. As the months go by, I get more drinks bought for me (hey, saves me and hubby some dough!) and more offers to dance (yeah, I take 'em up on 'em too!).
I too was always the "fat friend" and would always watch guys try to pick up my friends. It's very flattering now to be at a table with 4-8 women and be the one picked to dance.

I too have the bat wings. However, I'm fortunate enough to not care what others think (so many are self-conscience and I do recognize that) and have actually purchased 2 sleeveless tops for the summer as well as 3 sleeveless dresses.
I hope someone has some ideas though. I wouldn't mind getting rid of the bat wings! I'm just not going to let the possible opinions of others influence my summer wardrobe.
Topic: RE: 8/23/04 Surgery Date
Ladies,
You're all doing great - you should be so proud of yourselves!
On the breast issue, it's just so sad! My two best friends have defected to south of the border. When I would lay down in the past, they would be in my face. Now, I have to lift up my batwings just to find them. LOL!
Sondra, I had my surgery on 8/24/04 and was 362 I am down to 257, so we're right on the same track. My loss has slowed down as well, but as you said, as long as it's a loss, that is okay.
Take care,
Jen

Hi all!!!
I had my surgery on the 17th, so I hope you don't mind if I jump on the wagon! Alot of ups and downs, minor complications, BUT I wouldn't change a thing. 9 months and almost 110 lbs gone forever! Just waiting for my updated pics to be posted.

Topic: RE: Gallbladder...ouch!!!
Hi Barb,
I just had my gall bladder out last month. Piece of cake (for me). Same day surgery, had it on a thursday and went shopping friday. My symptoms were different, I couldn't hold food down, but it took almost 3 months of testing before it was determined it was my gall bladder. My PCP sent me to a GI doc first, and finally I went back to see my WLS surgeon and he hit it right away. The recover is much less severe than the WLS. I was expecting most of the same pain from that surgery. Hopefully all will go well, you're in my thoughts.

I was 493 on the day of surgery, August 16, 2004. I was at the doctor's office on Friday 4/22/05 and I weighed 297 so I have lost 196 pounds so far.

Topic: RE: Percentage of weight loss
Hey all!
Just found this post and decided to try it....
1. Beginning pre-op weight 491 lbs
2. Goal weight 185 lbs
3. Current weight loss 166 lbs
4. Total weight to lose (#1 - #2) 306 lbs
5. % of weight lost (#3 / #4) 54%
Not sure if I am on track or not, trying though!

Just curious if there are any others out there who started off weighing more than 450 and if so how much weight have you lost. I started out weighing 491 and am down to 327. I had surgery on August 9, 2004.
