Doing pretty good here. I've lost exactly half of me 308-154, but in the past 2 months I've only lost 10 pounds. That's kinda disheartning. But I'm sure it will move eventually. I guess I lost so much soooo quick that it had to slow down sometime! ((((HUGS)))) to everyone!! Best Wishes!! Jamie

Topic: My mother didn't recognize me!
I had a "WOW" moment today at lunch. I met my husband, sister-in-law, brother and mother for lunch at a local restaurant today. My mother walked in first, and looked all around for me....while I was standing just feet from the front door, staring right at her. When my sister-in-law and I spoke, as she followed my mother inside, that was when my mom realized who I was. She said, "I was looking everywhere for you....but I wasn't looking for someone who 'looked' like you!" I think she meant it as a compliment! Ha! Ha! I am having a few other "I didn't recognize you" moments with friends and others...but my own mother? I just saw her Sunday! Just wanted to share the funny moment with you all! ~Laura 5'9" Lost 82 pounds (so far!) 286/204/160

Topic: RE: 8/30 - weigh-in
I'm worried about not getting to goal too. My monthly weightloss has slowed down, but still going. I've tried sticking to my water and slipping in a protein drink every blue moon to keep things going, and thus far i've been doing okay. I haven't really plateaud, just instead of 3lbs a week, i usually lose 2. It's also the paranoid part in all of us, the operation (or our 9months after that) didn't get rid of that Just no sabotaging ourselves and keeping a close eye on what we eat and how much exercise we do. I've started taking a stroll during my lunch hour to at least get SOME exercise.

Topic: RE: 9 month Musings... (long post)
Hey Kristy, First of all, thanks for reading my post! I know it was SO LONG but I hoped someone would get something out of it. The goal is one that my surgeon set. Actually he doesn't set goals until late in the game (nine mos or one year) because he wants you to go for more of a size than a number. Like, I'd love to wear a size 8, but a 6 sounds great. Stuff like that. We chose 120 because I am short (5'1") and 120 has me in a normal BMI. However, he said that I could be happy at 130. Since I have been M.O. for so long, he said my bone density and muscle weight will be higher from having carried around the weight for so long. So I might be the same size and build as someone who hasn't been M.O. before, and I might weigh 10-15 lbs. more. The BMI calculators don't take things like that into effect! I'll just take it as it comes. I don't want to sell myself short, but I don't want to be unrealistic in my pursuit of a certain number. You're a real inspiration - so close to goal! Keep up the amazing work! Thanks for replying, Kathryn

Hi everyone... I haven't posted in awhile...but I had my surgery on 8/2/04. I am down 110 pounds, but my iron levels are very low. Is anyone else having this problem?? Also, my weight loss has stalled horribly. I have only lost 5 pounds in the last 2 months. Thanks for all your help !! Donna

Congratulations Kathryn! You are doing a great job with the tool you have been given. Like you I try to do my best with what I've been given. There are times where I don't make the wisest of food choices but hey...nobody's perfect right? Keep up the good job and you will hit goal eventually. Just don't give up. Oh, and I can ask...is your goal a goal you chose or your surgeon chose? Kristy 254/146/140

Thanks Maria E. Isn't this a wonderful tool. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Just feeling healthy and not taking any medications, other than vitamins of course, is a blessing within itself. Keep up the good work. I wish you continued losing.
