Topic: 9 months post-op and loss
Im 9 months post op and have ONLY loss 66 pounds! It is so depressing when I learn of others who have surgery the same time as I and have lost more than me. Dont know what went wrong, thinking of a revision. I will be so ashamed to for my yearly and have not reached my goal. I admit that I went into to this blindly thinking it was some miracle cureall for me, but since then I have done everything I was suppose to do, sure I get depressed when the scale wont budge but who dosent, then I wont do anything right. I guess Im just stuck. Any suggestions? Im told that people who weight less loose slower. I started @ 266 @5ft tall. And being short dosent help at all cuz I just look more stacker that a person weighing the same @ 5'4. If anyone out there has had this problem or issue please share.

I am so proud of you! I had my surgery the day after you (8/24) but I am know where near a 100 pound loss. So you should be very proud of yourself no matter what anyone thinks you look like. My start was 266 and now I am @ 201 sometimes 199 depending on the time of day.
I am really depressed about it thinking some thing is wrong with me. I too have the same hanging skin between the thighs and under the arms. Well

Hi Denise
Im sorry that you are going through so much at this time. Please know that I will hold you in my prayers for a speedy recovery. I can sympathize with you on the fact of not feeling well all the time. I have been going through myself with problems that I have not had before surgery and my MD cant still pin point whats happening. My weight loss has haulted and I am just misable that I went through this for nothing. My prayers will be with you for continued success.

Topic: RE: another HAIR question
Hi Lisa,
Yes I have suffered hair loss, and still am. I am on Biotin and Nioxin Hair supplements. I also shampoo with a Biotin based shampoo. It affects differently then others. Just keep conditioning, and taking Biotin. It will soon calm down.
Best of luck!

Laura,
Is this due to the accident, or due to just a rare thing that can occur? I have suffered from Panic attacks before, and they are frightening. I really pray they find the source, and can correct ot for you. There is nothing worse then having no control over ones health.
My prayers are with you!

Topic: My Update- New Tests!!
Happy Memorial Day to you all,
I wanted to just fill you all in on my issues.
I completed the 4 hour upper GI and Intestine test, and consulted Dr. Steinberg on Wednesday. He told me all the things it was not, but did say that the tests differed from my post op upper Gi series. He can not define what the difference is . He indicated that I need to see Dr. Stern, a colleague that is familiar with Gastric Bypass patients for an endoscope procedure.
He proceeded to pull out his Blackberry and call Dr. Stern, which he told me he had all his direct numbers. He told me he would contact him and sent me to the check out desk where they gave me a referral and told me to call to make an appt. I am to see Dr. Steinberg back on 6/22. The fact that he called him directly while I was in the office worried me.
I called Dr. Sterns office which said the first New patient opening was 7/18. They then called me back the following day, to tell me I have an 10:30 appt tomorrow morning.
Needless to say, I am a tad bit worried. I have my consult tomorrow, and then I am sure the procedure scheduled. I am not worried about the procedure itself, since I did that awake in ICU. I am mostly nervous that there is something really wrong in my pouch, which would require another surgery.
I don't know about you all, but the bypass in August was enough, followed by the emergency surgery in December...the thought of another one just has me sick.
However, I feel kind of relieved to know I am not a hypocondriac, and that there is a reason for all the vomitting, and inability to eat. My weight loss has come to a screeching hault, and I am depressed about that. I did not go through all of this to be stopped at 97 lbs. I am just praying that they find the issue, resolve it, and I can continue on the path to weight loss. My anniversary is coming up in August, and I want very much to have an additional 30-40 lbs off my then.
Anyway, just keeping you all posted.
much
Denise

Topic: RE: Exercise: How much?
I thought I was the only one who had this problem! In fact, this week I intentionally cut back on my workouts....and guess what? I broke my 3-week weight plateau! Hummm....
Oh well, I still think that the Curves workouts are doing me good. I do need to up my workouts to include walking every night. I talked with my doctor about jogging this week, and he really discouraged it. I wasn't thinking about getting into marathon racing, but just jogging like I used to as a young teen.
Doctor C. suggested I just walk fast....get some good shoes and if I felt like breaking into a jog, it would probably be OK. I was just looking for a way to break this plateau!
Now, I am just a couple of pounds away from the magic "200." I cannot wait to get there, and I have promised myself a nice, long massage when I get below 200.
Now, going from a size 28-30 to a size 16-18 (and some 12's!) has been a terrific boost of confidence! Just today, I went out with shorts and a sleeveless top----for the first time since high school or college! I cannot believe it!
Plastic surgery is not going to be in my future. My insurance will not cover it, and frankly, I don't want to go through another major surgery unless I really need to. I have had my share of surgeries for one lifetime! Diet and exercise may not get my lower abs flat as a super-model's, but at least I feel more comfortable in public.
Sounds like you are doing GREAT! You are an inspiration to all of us! Keep it up, girl!
