Topic: Good news!
The good news is I'm pregnant! I know, it's VERY early in the post-op time period to be doing this, and believe me, it wasn't exactly what was intended... My hubby and I decided a couple of months ago that we wanted to have another (our son is 2yrs 4mos old now) baby, and we intended on waiting until the beginning of next year, or at the very least until my surgeon gave us the go-ahead.
HOWEVER, one thing led to another and on May 10th my dear hubby got caught up in the moment and shall we just say that it slipped his mind that we were planning on waiting another 9 months. Of course he wasn't thinking I might be ovulating or anything, but it turns out that May 10th was SMACK DAB in the middle of my ovulation cycle and it only took one try!
The GOOD NEWS is that I called my surgeon and told him. He reviewed my file and told me that the surgery had really done just about all it was going to be doing for me anyways... he said I might still have lost an additional 5 pounds or so, but nothing much more than that since I was already 7 pounds under his goal for me. He told me that since my weight had nearly stabilized, it would only be from diet and exercise that I'd continue losing anyways.
So he wished me luck, told me to keep exercising, drinking lots of water, and getting my protein and multi vitamins and calcium and b12 in and I'd be okay! He wasn't what I would call HAPPY about it, but definitely wasn't worried, so I won't be either! He told me to try and find an OB/GYN that is familiar with WLS or if not, at least one who's willing to meet with him if they have any questions or concerns, but as far as he was concerned, there wasn't anything to worry about!
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I'm hoping I won't get fat again. Honestly, that's my biggest fear. (Well that and child birth- my son was 9 pounds 10 ounces... believe me, it hurt like He--.) I know plenty of people who've only gained like 20 pounds, had a totally healthy baby, and then lost weight right away. I gained nearly 40 last time, but didn't have the surgery and had started out at over 200. By the time I got home from the hospital with my son, I had lost 22 pounds. So my goal is to try to only gain baby weight, or about 20 pounds, and no fat. We'll see how well I hold up.
So far (I'm only 21 days preggo) I'm not feeling any different or pregnant at all (other than tender tata's), except when I eat. When we 1st were allowed to start eating regular foods, almost everything I ate made me feel car sick. Of course I ate through that anyways, and before I was preggo nothing was really making me sick unless it was one of those dumping trigger foods or foods to avoid (pasta, bread, etc). But now everything's making me nauseous again... maybe that's a good thing though so I won't over eat or change my eating habits. We'll see. So far I've lost 2 pounds since finding out I was preggo... doc says a little more weight loss is okay until around 4 months pregnancy... so we'll try for that.
Anyways, I hope no one's feeling disappointed with me. I'm still going to work the program, and eat healthy. I refuse to be another WLS statistic who gains back all of their weight.
Lots of love,
Dawn

I am sorry you going though this. Please keep us posted on your results. I will be praying for you.
I too had a major complicatio and had to have emergency surgery and almost died from my sromach rupturing, and causing me to get peritonitis in March. I had delveoped an ulcer at one of my incisions, and had been being treated for it, but it still rupturded.
My weight lose has also stopped for the past 2 months just about. But today I am joining a gym to try and get the weigth losss going again. So far I have lost only 80 pounds, and when I see how well most of the others here have done, it depresses me a little.

Well, I am 9 months out today 5-30-05, and I have lost just 80 pounds. I have been stuck for almost 2 months now. I wonder if the weight will come off anymore at all. But today I am joining a gym to try and get more exercise then I have been getting. I am going to try very hard to get to the gym 4 - 5 days a week. Hopefully this will help jump start the weight loss again.
I feel your pain, and I get depressed about it sometimes too.
My sister had the surgery after me and her weight lose is slow like mine, so maybe it is just in our genes.
Hang in there everyone.

I agree with Lisa, hang in there. You'll lose more. It is only a tool, and we have to use it as such. When I hit those slow down times, like now, I increase my water consumption & walk more. Try measuring yourself. I found during my plateaus my body continued to shrink even though the scale wasn't moving. Give it a shot. Seeing the numbers go down will help with the depression, and get you thru the plateau.

Melissa - 101 lbs gone, 20 to go. Feel like a new person. Buying size 14 clothes for the first time in my life. Have hit a snag in the losing process, but plan to increase my water & exercise this week to get things going again. Have until one year anniversary (8/27) to get the final 20 lbs off. No problem right?

I am also 9 months out, I have lost 77 lbs. I started at 220. I have kinda lost slow. But I am very happy with my results. I hope to lose 20 more. But I think 66 is pretty good for you. Just think how hard it would be to lose 66 and keep it off without the surgery. You will lose more too. I sure don't want mine reversed. I love my pouch. And thank God everyday for being able to have this surgery. Good luck and just keep doing what you are supposed too. Lisa
