Topic: 148 lbs lost total!!!
Hi everyone,
I saw my dietician today and weighed in at 120 lbs, 8 lbs below my goal. I am blown away.
In January 2004, I weighed in at my highest weight: 268 lbs. Since then, I have lost 148 lbs. Since my actual surgery date, which was 8/11, I have lost 112 lbs. Astounding.
There is concern that my weight loss hasn't stopped or really slowed down (see profile for details...don't want to bore you with all the details). Initially my dietician wanted to see my every two weeks for weight checks but now wants to see me every week. I have lost 6 lbs since last week, which is the last thing I wanted to do. I really wanted to maintain between the 125-128 range. And I have been working hard on trying to maintain that and not lose. But I keep losing.
Pretty much the plan is this: I need to see my PCP Friday for a complete physical. I need to "throw the RNY rules out the window for now" per my dietician, see her every week and see my surgeon next week. They really want to get on top of things now. Yikes. It iks scary when your doctors and medical professionals are nervous.
Again, though, I have to say that I am blessed to have the surgeon and the team that he has involved in my care. The aftercare, which is so very important when having WLS, is PHENOMINAL with this program. I know that they will make sure I am okay.
That is pretty much my update for the time being. It is so very strange being told that I need to gain weight, that I need to eat as much as I can and anything that I can, etc. Of course, this is just until I stabilize and then the rules will be back into affect, but nontheless....it is so weird being in this position. I never imagined it would have turned out this way. I always thought I would struggle with 20 lbs to get to goal, as this seems to be the norm. I guess everyone is different.
I only hope that my health doesn't decline because of my rapid loss and my current weight.
I will keep you all posted.
Hugs,
Denise

Jamie, you're out of control!!!
WOW. I haven't lost what you have but ditto 'I have never been so happy in my life!!' I don't think I felt this good in my twenties. Probably, I was sleep deprived all the time from raising our children.
Keep up the good work everyone!!!'

Shelia, Most of us can't see the thinner person we are now. Think if you'd have only had 31 lbs to begin with. I'll bet at this time last year, you'd have been greatful to have only 30 or so to go. Maybe you could increase your workouts? Hang in there, you're doing great. Hugs, Barb

Hi Donna. I hope today is going better for you.
I think all of us are probably freaking over what we can handle now compared to the last several months. Everybody has a bad day now and again. That said, how are you doing with your workouts? I find that the more exercize (biking, walking, pilates or whatever) I get, the easier my bad eating habits are to keep in check. Success breeds success. Tomorrow, tell yourself you'll get in all your water or something like that. I think pretty soon you'll be back in the groove. BTW, my eating is far from perfect, don't be so hard on you.

Dawn, Your pictures are eye-popping! Your son is gorgeous and I can see where he gets his great looks. I remember your post telling is you were pregnant. I'll bet even with the morning sickness you're feeling better than you did last time around. Take care. Hugs, barb

Congratulations on your PS! What an awesome feeling it must be. Unfortunately for me I'm going to have to hold on to this skin for a few years before I can have any PS done because I want to have kids first.

I agree with jaimie, i could never eat that much in one day. But the good thing is that you know where you're going wrong and now you need to fix it. make yourself something healthy and keep it in the fridge for when you get the urge to snack. I hope everything gets better for you, you've come so far in this journey to turn back now.
