Leslie,
You're definitely not alone in your feeling discouraged. I am down 120 but still have 65 more to go to get to my own goal; 95 more to get to my doctor's goal. What's worse is that when I look in the mirror, I don't see any difference.
I get really depressed and frustrated, but then I have to force myself to stop and think of how crazy I am being.
10 months ago I was in a very tight size 30/32. Last week I bought a 14/16 skirt that fits great!
The other day a friend that I have known for 15 years walked right past me because she didn't recognize me.
Logically these things tell me that I am making great progress. I'm not anywhere close to where I wanted to be right now. But I started close to 400lbs and now I'm getting closer to 200lbs. That's a good thing.
Hang in there - some of us get to the goal a lot faster, but eventually we'll all make it.

Topic: Bouncing up the scale and feeling dizzy
Sounds like a 50s song.
I went on vacation last week (the first major one since the surgery) and ate horrible. I had ice cream, and mostly carb foods. And I will admit skipped the vitamins
Since I have been home, I have not wanted to eat protein food and have been craving carbs. Well tonight I woke up with bed spins and feeling ill. I think it is due to the lack of vitamins (I just took them) and the lack of protein (I drank a cup of carb countdown milk).
I guess I forgot that I am not a normal person. I may look normal on the outside, but inside I still have to take vitamins, eat my 60+ grams of protein, exercise, and keep the carbs low.
I stepped on the scale and have gained 3 lbs since I left for vacation. Have any of you just went crazy lately? I am having a case of the guilts.
Take care

Hi Leslie...
I don't post very often, but I do read the posts fairly regularly. I feel like you do - all of these people who only (only!) had 100 lbs or so to lose are all at their goal, look great, and are happy as clams (as they should be!!)
But ME... I'm NOT at my goal (58 lbs to go) and, like you, lose almost nothing these days. I've tried to up my exercise but geez, I wish I was "there"!!!
I don't have any advice - just a friendly "we're in the same boat" kind of message. Congrats to all who've done so well. I AM happy with my loss so far (126), but man, I wish I could get that last 1/3 off!

Topic: Questions for other 8/30's ............
Hi Ladies and Gents....
So it is now about 10 plus months for us and I was wondering what ( if any ) complications or problems you are having?
I am still having problems with an anstomotic ulcer ( the connection between pouch and intestines) it can be very painful ( like now
) and I will be having another Endo in a week or two. Sometimes it is so bad my diaphram goes into spasams and it can feel liek a heart attack.
Still having periods of vomiting unrelated to volumn or food type. One day I can eat PB and be fine the next it comes up. It sure makes meal planning an adventure.
Hair loss finally has stopped!
Nixoin is the greatest.. wish I had begun using it sooner!
Sometimes all the attention to food is overwhelming!
I feel like I am always eating ...... but when i really take count I am not eating a lot.
So OK at most I can eat 1/2 a toasted english muffin with PB....... I can't remember the last time I could eat one whole egg! 1/2 a grilled cheese, or on a good day 1 to 2 oz cooked meat. ( of course those are just examples of types and amounts of food I eat...... I do eat "meals" as the plan calls for ) so I do get a blanced day
(nutrition wise)
My blood work has been OK sort of...
... some confusion as to weather I do have low Vit.B's but other testing said everything was ok. Blood work every six weeks :| and my skin is like leather and the techs have a hard time getting the needle in.... so I now dread having blood work done!
And the last issue is GAS.... upper intestional, that can cause another sort of very painful chest pain or belching! At least this I can help with a heating pad.
I moved a few months ago and I realy miss the post op group I had. I am going back there a week after the next endo to see my surgeon for my one year FU!
and I'd like to have some idea of what is "normal" for US!
Thanks Lisa

Topic: RE: update, and a few questions
I actually just read that post! I definitely would get super sick if I ate the things that she did (pizza, and entire hamburger, ice cream). Just thinking about it makes me feel ill! Not to down her by any means, I just know that my body couldn't handle those things. I was talking to one of my bosses today who also works out at the 24 Hour Fitness where I do, and he was telling me a few things to try with my cardio exercise. I know I definitely need to be eating more protein, as well. Sometimes I just get scared that I will eat too much, so I eat a very tiny "snack" instead which is usually some sliced mozzarella cheese (low in fat) and some whole wheat crackers. Not a lot of protein there, I know!
You also are doing fabulously well! I spent about 10 minutes reading some of your posts and your profile, and you're doing (and looking) amazing!
If you'd like to know a little more, check out my profile. I try to keep it as up to date as possible.
Thanks for the feedback, and have an outstanding day!
Blessings,

Wow Leslie, You're doing awesome! I'm far from goal myself (about 25 pounds), but remember, some of what we have left to lose is excess skin/adipose tissue!!! A friend of mine in our situation went to a plastic surgeon who told her with surgery she'd lose another 15-20 pounds!!!! So with that said, you're only like 15 pounds from goal!!! That's one way to think about it...........
Keep up the good work!!!!
Lots of love,
Dawn

Hey Carissa,
The emotional roller coaster ride you're on is likely caused by your hormones going nuts between the miscarriage and the birth control... just give your body a little time and patience while you recover.
You're doing awesome with your weight loss! Any time I've been stuck I've tried kicking up my cardio, increasing water intake, and of course PROTEIN!!!
An interesting side note... a fellow poster here wrote last week about a major munchies attack she experienced... she gave into it and those extra calories actually jump-started her weight loss!!! Weird I know, but maybe you're just not getting enough in per day... Just remember to focus on HEALTHY alternatives and don't overdo it!
Best of luck!
Lots of love,
Dawn
Topic: update, and a few questions
Hey fellow losers!!!
My surgery was on August 11th, 2004. I started at 287 and a size 22-24. I'm now at 163 and a size 12. I feel like I'm stuck though!
Granted, I still lose about a pound or so a week, I've been in 12s for quite awhile now. Does anyone know of anything I may be able to do to jump start my body back into losing mode?
I workout at the gym every morning (alternating weights, cardio, and classes depending on the day of the week), I still don't eat sugar, I drink plenty of water, and still eat very small amounts.
I feel like I'm doing all the right things, but I'm not getting any smaller!
Secondly, did anyone else experience a severe rollercoaster of emotions yet? My mood swings
, sleepless nights
, and unexplained crying
were so terrible I finally went to see my doctor. He put me on some medication, and I have to admit that I've been a completely different person for the past three weeks. I'm on birth control as well just to prevent any surprises that my husband and I aren't ready for yet. I didn't know if this sudden change in mood had to do with the surgery or what. I had a miscarriage of what's called a "molar pregnancy" a few months ago, but I thought I was over those depressing feelings. Then all of these emotions starting setting in.... any explanations?
Congratulations to everyone on your great weight loss!
We have so much to be happy and thankful for, don't we?
Have a wonderful day!
Blessings,
Carissa
