Anyone have one after their GBP? I have to have one next Wednesday because my pacreas is acting up. I didn't have to have one before surgery so I don't know what to expect. Were you awake for it? Was your throat painful afterwards? Any changes to your eating after it was done? Did the endoscopy cause any damage to your pouch or can it? Nervous nelli, Christie

Christie, No problem at all. It is not painful you will not remember it and it will only take about 3 minutes. I was a nervous wreck the first one I had before surgery and it was nothing then I had one 6 months after surgery and again nothing yes your throat may get a little sore ,but nothing bad just like you had a bad night of snoring. They give you a drug to put you in nowhere land but not asleep . One minute your talking next minute you are done and ready to go home. Put yourself at ease it will be okay. I totally understand though because I was nervous that first time. Take care and let us know how you are. Brenda

Hi Christie, Like Brenda said , the whole procedure takes less than 20 mins, but you may be at the hospital for 2 hours or so. I have then done just about every 6 months before surgery and every 6-10 weks since then. ( I have a problem with Ulcers! pre and post op) The drug used is VERSADE and Demeraol or some combination. You are not asleep but you really don't care and won't remeber much of anything. You will need someone to drive you. No change in food post procredure... in fact I have always gone out to eat with my friend after it and even shoping with her. OF course she makes sure I don't do anything wild. Most of the time I just like to come home and plan on a quiet day. The sore throat is mild. It has got to be so much of a routine fo rme that my friends and I make it an event. We go to a Hotel close to the hospital and spend the night before having Girly fun. Last time we got massages and stayed at a four star class Hotel, and was pampererd. It beats getting uo at 4 AM for a 6:30 procedure. I have to have another one in a few weeks and we are going to do another all nighter. Just a girls night out. then after the procedure a few errands and home again. It will go OK... My MD always gives me photos of the ulcers! OH becaause of the meds it wil be almost next to impossible to remember what the MD said so have your friends inthe recovery area with you when the MD tells you the results. Lisa
