What have I done wrong?
I had my surgery on 8-10-04. I lost 67 lbs in the first 4 months. I have not lost any since. Actually I have gained 25 lbs since. Even when I counted my calories and excercised, I was not losing. I finally wrote the doctor and told him I failed and would not be coming back. He just said ok, here is a group that MIGHT be starting for people with eating disorders/ weight loss failure. He never did tests, never tried to find out why or anything. Since last August, he never checked any levels (protein, iron, etc.) I am wondering if he just don't care because he did not get paid for my surgery. My insurance company approved a short limb rny and he preformed a long limb (HE felt it would be better for me- which now seems to not have been better ) so therefor he didn't get paid.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
I think there is something very wrong i'm no dr mind you but i just dont think you should except this kind of behavior from any dr i would seek another dr's oppinion and then see a lawyer. it is his responsabilitie to have follow up care for ALL his patients. you really need to se a diffrent dr its verry important if you have a "leak"in your pouch you would be gaing your weight back due to not feeling satisfied i would see another dr youve come to far give yourself a chance for a new life dont except this
I totally agree with Dianna. I don't know where in PA you live, but I would highly suggest checking out Barix Clinics, it is in Langhorne, PA near Philadelphia. You need to see another bariatric surgeon! Did you see a general surgeon who did bariatric surgery, or did you go to a bariatric surgeon? This is TERRIBLE!!!! Do not sit back and take it...fight this...you deserve the best treatment not the worst!!!
Good Luck!

Wow DS... that's truly horrible.
First of all, don't blame yourself. It sounds like your Dr. was a real a$$ and should not be allowed to continue performing the surgery. I too would get an attorney and look at possible malpractice. Just think of the countless other people's lives he could be affecting by practices such as this...
At any rate, a malpractice lawsuit could set you up for a revision, and I've heard from several people that sometimes the 2nd time is a charm. For all you know, maybe he didn't even do the surgery!
I wouldn't let him get away with this... if not for yourself, then at least for the other patients who may be putting their trust in him. I definitely would talk to a lawyer.
Lots of love,
Dawn
