Barbara, I am sorry to hear about your frustration. Are we talking 2 pounds or 10 pounds? the reason I ask is that I have been tossing the same 3 pounds back and forth for about 2 months now. Thye just won't go away! Have you made any other changes - i.e. working out more and increasing muscle? You definitely need some type of support system. I have several and would be lost without them. Let me know how you're doing and how I can help. Jen

Barbara you are not alone !!! I seem to have a pattern going I gain a couple of pounds then do nothing and then the next week lose 5. I find the old habits creeping back, I have had a lot of stress lately and I find myself eating when I'm not hungry. Go back to the basics, protien first lots of water, watch the carbs. I went for my 1yr check-up yesterday and my doctor said it's going to be in my hands to get the last 40 lbs off. He told me to excerise !! Just hang in and it will get better !!! My surgery was 8/9/04 also. If I can help or you just need to vent e-mail me. Best wishes Linda

I had the same question...by gaining back weight, how many LBS are we talking about? I too lose and gain 2-3lbs and do have old habits that I need to stop. I am concerned about it, and that is completely normal. We all had an issue with weight, an issue than went BEYOND losing 5 or 10lbs. It is inevitable to be paranoid about weight gain or just worried about things going back to how they were. We are in total control of that by what we consume, the exercise we do, etc. We have the tool, we know the rules, we are not dummies. When we go against them is when we are! I understand being frightened, and if you think about it, it is a good thing to be highly concerned about something that is and has been such an important part of your life. Look out for yourself, make right decisions, and when you gain those 2-3lbs, we all have to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

I have not lost any weight since Dec. (4 mo. after surgery) since then I have gained 25 lbs and my doctor doesn't care. He just referred me to a group that might start for people with eating disorders or weight loss failure. I think he doesn't care because he never got paid for my surgery. My insurance company approved a short limb surgery and he chose to do a long limb surgery so they wouldn't pay him. I am now able to eat just like I did 1 year ago before my surgery. I feel like such a failure because I have not ever heard of anyone else who failed like I did. How much weight have you gained? Good luck getting yourself back on track. Darlene
