Had surgery 8-30 and I am....So, so, tired!
Hi all fellow loosers! I am surprised that I don't have all the energy that loosing 124 pounds should have given me. Anyone else feel tired? I miss my ibuprofin too. I think that the NSAIDS made me feel so much better in the joints that stopping it may be why I feel major joint pain. I swim and that is pain free, walking is ok, but stairs are terrable!!!! I can hardly pick up my right foot to put shoes on! Did I always have this pain but the ibuprofin masked it? What does everyone take for pain? Tylenol does nothing for me. And so tired too. I go for my checkup on my anniversary, last checked out at 6 months. I hear some people get bloodwork done much more often.
Thanks for listening,
Marie
P.S. This is my first time on the message board, I do go on the chat room as "New Kid Marie" daily.
Marie,
Why aren't you taking the NSAIDS? Is it because of the surgery?
I take Celebrex 2x daily and sometimes that isn't enough. I have found that as I continue to lose, my knees are actually getting worse. My dad had the surgery 2 years ago and had the same issues.
My Doctor send us for blood work at 3 month intervals for the first 24 months - and he checks EVERYTHING! You give a lot of blood but I would rather know that everything is okay!
Are you keeping up on your vitamins? I was very tired and they found that my B group was low. So I switched to a vitamin that had a boosted Biotin/B group included. Most of the Bs come from the carbs we aren't eating anymore, so your body needs the supplement.
Good luck!
Jen
Hi Jen, NSAIDS are a no-no for Rny. They cause stomach ulsers. There is something in the NSAIDS that needs the stomach acids to digest and with no stomach acids in the upper part of the stomach, they eat the lining up. One person at our clinic took only one and got an ulser and bled so much. Others can take them for a few days only. Not worth the risk for me. I take B, Iron, Calcium, Folic acid, D and a multi vitamen daily. I also heard that the iron pills effect the throid. Have you heard of that? Thanks for answering. Marie
YES, I am also very tired and even though my blood work says everything is OK, MY MD added vit b's as well as thyorid meds. I had been feeling great for a while but all of a sudden could not go a day with out a 2-3 hour nap! I have only been on the new meds for a few days so not much inmprovment but the thyroid meds take some time to kick in.
Yes I have heard Iron can affevt the thyroid BUT SO CAN NSAIDS.
I have blood work done every 6 weeks... I had a problem with potassium and mag as well as a high hymosystine levels... ( that usually means a low B vit level! but mine were all ok! go figure!)
OH YES MY KNEES seem to be getting worce with every pond I loose! I already have a LONG history with ulcer and have a active post op ulcer ( STILL) so there is NOTHING I can take for the knee pain. I just use a heating pad, or ice. I knew years ago that it was just a matter of time before I'd need both knees replaced.
Before surgery everyone boasted about the many CUERS post op. I have found that not to be true. esp with my arthritis, BUT I also had LYME Desiase so that maakes it all worce.
I would make a list to take to your MD appointment to make sure you get some answers.
I do believe that the surgery was well worth it despite the post op problems.
